That’s exactly the right attitude. I’m over seven years post op and it does get better regarding the tiredness. It’s early days for you but if you carry on with that outlook you will do fine.

Regards, James.

You've had it far worse than me with the sepsis and liver damage. People like you inspire me and stop me feeling sorry for myself.

Sounds like you are right in track with the rest of us at the same stage.

It gets better.

It's good to know that others have the same problems and it is very reassuring.

Yup, as the others have said it does get better, I'm 18 months post op and as long as I don't over eat dumping has reduced significantly, I find that with regular meal times ( now 3 meals a day) I can eat anything from curry to a roast.

I do have a nap in the afternoons for about 45 min but this could be age related as well (75yrs old).

Well done, keep looking forward to your future life.

Jeff

I can eat small amounts of anything I fancy but am mindful not to overdo it.

Early days yet.

I'll be 12 months in May. Tiredness is now limited to just after I eat too much, although I get out of breath quickly....walking and talking at the same time can do it.

Supposedly 12 months will mark my new 'normal', I'm hoping I'll have moved in a bit more in the coming 3 months.

I always try to remember the state I was in the first few weeks after leaving hospital, and the state I was in on HDU things do improve and my tiredness is much like yours.Dumping syndrome is a constant problem though but I can control it if careful with my diet,no fibre and not much dairy seems to help me.

Keep me posted please, John.

Great attitude. I'm two years post surgery and I marvel that I am able to function with some "normality". I get tired and know when to lay down even for 20 min. I am trying to regain some weight and sometimes overdo the eating which ends up badly. Sugar intake, for me, must be kept at a minimum.

Keep at it, you are strong!

I am 2 years 9 days post Oesophagectomy.

Have issues with dumping (hyperglycemia, high HR, out of breathe), wont be able to do physical activities or continuous talking during dumping episodes after meals, snacks etc.

Life goes on. Learnt to manage it on the way all along. Absolutely no support from dieticians.

Have travelled over 6 countries, worked in middle east and Scandinavia, now in England (bristol specifically), clocked 58 flights to date. All within last 1.5years. Remember I came hone in wheelchair and had to learn all things from scratch due to wasted in coma for a month.

Life loved and moving, changes are inevitable. With a string wife to bring me back from death ed and strong family support, it's all back in the past quickly.

Although the work demands means I can't rest as much I would like in the day time, shattered by the evening. Happy like anything.

Met oesophageal patients group in Bristol, lovely people there too. Met some good friends from there too.

Be happy and spread the happiness and positivity, that's what I try mostly
