Alan should start his 12 weeks of chemotherapy / radiotherapy in about 2 weeks time providing his kidney function test is ok. Somebody suggested asking for Vitamin B12 to be given before treatment, to boost immunity. Has anyone done this? Would you just take vitamin B12 supplements bought from a place like Boots the Chemist, or ask the GP for a B12 injection?
Any other advice on increasing / maintaining immunity?

As Fizzy says, it’s time to ask the oncologists advice and go with what they say. You need to be eating as many calories as you can to put some weight on before you start and don’t take any supplements without asking your CNS or oncologists. Some supplements can contradict the chemo and medicines they give you. It’s all very finely balanced. Good luck xxx
Gps wont give b12 jab without doing blood tests to find if needed.
Off the shelf supplements should top up essentials. Till chemo starts, as others suggested consult chemo prescribers or pharmacy for contra indications or read yourself about that in your chemo medication leaflets.
Vitamin c, b group
Echinacea tablets for immunity
CBD
Iron (prescribed to me)
Avoid people (young families or people just visited hospitals, or sick) and places (hospitals, recirculated AC areas like buses, offices etc)
I take multiple supplements in much higher doses and this keeps my vitamins levels in check. I did discuss with my GP and she says continue whst I am taking of that's helping.but that's post surgery, never had chemo.
