I am a newby. I had Nissen fundoplication surgery to correct hiatal hernia and reflux. That occurred in mid July. I am having problems eating the most recent of which is that i will start to eat and then have to spit up phlegm, lots of it. Afterward, I can often continue to eat with no problem. I have had two endoscopies since the surgery, one to dilate area of constriction, the second just to try to make things better with dilating. It is a little better, but I wish my surgeon would have told me some of these things. I am not sure I am any better, still have reflux and more problems with eating.

Hello farful, sorry to hear of your problems. I have heard of some success stories with the op & some not so. Not sure if you're in the UK or US but there is a Facebook group called Esophagul Spasm Support group who I feel have more answers as there are many on there who have had the same procedures
Hi Farful,
Sorry you're going through all this, I also have the phlem issue though from another cause. I have had success using Mucinex to thin the phlem. It is sold over the counter. Good luck
Hi there. I too had a Nissen fondulphication procedure for hiatal hernia and reflux about three weeks ago. My recovery has been awful. Can't eat or drink anything, including water. I can keep yogurt down, which to me is strange. My Esophageal Dr. thinks I am just constipated, but I disagree. I vomit clear gas bubbles literally three bites in. What has your doctors said?
