endoscope following op.

I had operation nine years ago to remove part of oesophagus and part of stomach. My doctor has arranged for me to have and endoscope examination. Is there anything that the those carrying out the procedure should be more careful about, for instance there being no sphincter at the join?

HI Graham39

Shortly after my op, my surgeon wondered about an endoscopy, I was worried about scar tissue etc making the proceedure more difficult. I was told that it would be a lot easier post op than the 2 endoscipies that I had undergone prior to the op. Hope this helps.

All the best

Hello, I had an upper endoscopy 18 months after surgery. It went smoothly. Be sure to let the techs know you have had the surgery. Mine were not aware. I was under anesthesia the whole time though.

Thanks, I've had it done now and I made sure the doctor was aware of my situation and it was no problem.

I had an endoscopy 8 years after my partial gastro-oesophagectomy. The gastroenterologist was aware of my history and it was not a problem.
