Nissen Fundoplication Post-Op.

I had a Nissen Fundoplication over 14 months back. Everything was going fine. I had no reflux, No pain or burning in my throat and still don't but I've noticed in the last week, My food seems to be sticking a little bit but still going down if that makes sense. Other than that i genuinely feel really well. My fluids go down perfectly normal and I don't get pain when swallowing anything. I'm still able to eat chicken, Steaks, Apples all the tough stuff but its like I can feel it pass through my Esphougus where as two weeks back I couldn't. Maybe, I'm rushing my food or not chewing enough or it's always been there and my mind is just starting to notice it. Advice would be much appreciated.

John. 😊

Hi .. sorry no direct help here but some info. My oesoph has been narrowed at junc with stomach due to scarring from reflux acid burns. The narrowin causeds food to back up resulting in my oesop being reshaped from a pipe to a funnel. Sept 17 had NF360. To date reflux has stoppd + off all tablets but still get swallowing issues i think due to narrowing but my doctor says some of swalowing issues if they dont improve may be Alchalasia related and he may consider treatment for A next visit.

Ive had a stretch dec17 but prob need another but like u i largely eat what i like but slowly and well chewed .. annoyingly salmon fillet and tinned cause blocking. I can live fine as is .. im even reluctant to have another stretch .. but issue is that food remaining above stom/oesoph junc can cause body to make oesoph cell changes (to aid digestion in oesoph .. not good i believe .. cell changes can lead to barrets etc).

I now take sparklin water with my meals .. this causes some light burping which i think shudders my oesoph helpin the food to pass through and not stick.

Obviously u shld speak to someone. My next check up is early june. Cheers. G
