Unfortunately, Raymond's PET scan has now revealed that he has stage 4 OC and the operation is not an option. He will start chemo in two weeks and we have to make the most of our time together.

So very sorry to hear the news we all dread. In our support group we have a number of members who have had the same diagnosis and are classed as palliative. However they are still doing well. All of them have had to have Chemo and generally that has worked well .Others have not responded and have been offered immunotherapy and the early results are very encouraging. One of our member was given the same diagnosis as your husband and he is still here 7 years later.

So sorry to hear your miserable news. Our neighbour's dad was diagnosed with inoperable OC nearly two years ago. He had a new type of chemo that he reacted to very badly, but in fact it did the job, and after recovering from the effects he has been well. He is just having some "top up" chemo now as there have been some changes. I wish you both the best and hope that treatment works as well for Raymond.

12 years ago my Mum had an inoperable OC they gave her chemo and radio, it done the job until last year, she had biopsies and it came back high grade dysplasia. They gave her an Ivor Lewis operation in November 2017! The pathology came back and said it was a stage 1 tumour, no lymph node involvement and no chemo needed!
Please don’t give up, we were devastated 12 years ago when they said the operation couldn’t happen. The chemo (360 hours of it) and radio were extremely hard but it got rid of the cancer for 12 years!
She is only 8 weeks post op and is doing well, As far as we are concerned it is gone now!
Did they say if the tumour shrinks the operation could be an option? Did Raymond show any metatsis or lymph node involvement?
Look for alternatives and take any treatment they will give you!
I wish you both well and hope you find an alternative treatment to get Raymond better again x

Great news about your mum and this has given me some hope.
Unfortunately it has spread to the lymph nodes and is showing metatsis.
He will be getting chemo for 18 weeks staringvfrom 7 Feb.
He looks perfectly well and you not not think to look at him that he is sick.
We need a miracle x

The first time my husband had chemotherapy we met a gentleman who had received the same diagnosis as Raymond about 18 months ago. This gentleman was being treated with chemotherapy also and had just returned from a holiday abroad. He was doing very well. From the other comments you have received it is clear that this is not an uncommon situation. I do hope chemotherapy works well for Raymond. Every good wish.
Sorry to hear your news I know it comes as a shock. My husband was also diagnosed with reoccurred cancer several months ago and is receiving palliative chemo. Its hard to know what to do for the best........carry on as normal or ..........?? Im ok one min and on my knees the next. I try to help and it irritates him.......now we hardly speak, I think we are both frightened to face reality. Having read the replies to your post it seems that living with cancer is possible so lets try to be positive! X
Sorry that the news was horrific at best. Now comes the climb ahead. As a family member who has witnessed this disease's ravages I look back on my mother-in-law putting ice on her swollen lymph nodes. She never mentioned it but would not give up or give in. She made it to almost 90. She would not have surgery or anything invasive. She leaned on her faith and laughter and high spirits. Prayers sent ^^^ for you and your husband.
First 3 week cycle completed and he is now ready for cycle 2. I still can't believe that this is terminal.
Has anyone heard of anything or a place that can help with inoperable OC?
