Difficulty swallowing.

Over the past 4 weeks my heartburn has become persistent and unbearable and I have difficulty swallowing particularly as the day progresses. I have had two endoscopies and been diagnosed with inflamed gullet. On two types of ppi's but makes no difference. Really scared it has turned into something serious. Awaiting gastroenterologist clinic appointment but feeling scared and anxious.

Over the years I have had three endoscopies, the last one about three years ago was clear been taking Omaprazole, which I now learn effete the bones and I have Osteoporosis , I now am having heavy discomfort again, even a jelly feels heavy as it's going down so I can understand how you feel..I am going back to dr who has also put me on Ranitidine at night and am. back on OMapraole as it was worse when I took myself off it. I can't worry about my bones at the moment and take the D3 for them and exercise daily. I am awaiting scans for a PRolapse op so one thing at a time, so wish you good luck

So sorry to hear about the prolapse too. Yes dr has me on panoprazole and Ranitidine twice a day. Burning sensation is better but gurgling and the discomfort after eating is horrific. So frightened it's cancer. Gp has given me sleeping tablets too

This is an awful condition - gp has put me on pantoprazole and rinitadine as well as short term sleeping tablets. Have you had a ph test and endoscopies ?

Get some litmus test papers. What you described sounds like it is bile reflux not acid. After you get a reflux lick a test strip. If it turns red, it is acid but if it turns green it will prove bile. In either case I suggest you take a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of your favourite soft drink. This has worked for me and others that have taken my advice. Good luck. If you try this and it works let me know.

Who sells litmus paper, Alan Ware, thank you

Your chemist should be able to get them for you. But you can get a book of 100 strips on eBay for about 2 quid
