'Patients as Partners' event at St Mary's Paddington

I am circulating this opportunity to attend a workshop on 7 July at St Mary's hospital, Paddington. If you would like to help, the contact details are set out in the letter that I have copied below:

We are inviting you to participate in our second workshop entitled ‘Patients as Partners’. This will be held on Thursday 7th July, from 10:00 – 15:00 at Paterson Building, St Mary's Hospital

Praed Street, London W2 1NY.

We would like to improve the experience and outcomes of people with oesophageal and stomach cancer and would value your continued partnership in helping us achieve this vision.

At this event we will address three things:

1. PREPARE E-Health Platform

During this particular workshop we would like to show you the prototype for the tablet based electronic platform that we have developed. The platform aims to provide support and information to patients undergoing surgery. We would value your feedback in order to make further developments and modifications.

2. Research

As you have all been involved in our PREPARE for surgery program we are keen to undertake further research to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program and roll it out more widely. This will hopefully enable a wider group of patients to benefit from the key principles on this programme.

3. Patient reported outcomes

Often when we measure improvement in the delivery of care we focus on outcomes that we believe are important to us and our patients, without necessarily taking the views of our patients into consideration. We would like you to tell us what you believe is important to you as an outcome after surgery.

If you would like to be involved in this workshop or for further details please contact Alexandra Street, Project Co-ordinator, either via email – Alexandra.Street@imperial.nhs.uk or telephone 02033117373.

Travel costs will be reimbursed and lunch and refreshments provided on the day.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Yours Sincerely,

Mr Krishna Moorthy Venetia Wynter-Blyth

Consultant OG Surgeon Upper GI Clinical Nurse Specialist
