I am diagnosed with Adencarinoma Cancer in my lower esophogus and upper stomach. I am sick. I lost more than 80 lbs not being to eat properly. I can't swollow solid foods apparently the stomach sphinxer muscle is inflamed. Next week i have a peg tube placement planned at the Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, LI NY. Hopefully this will help.

Do you have any experience with this?

Hello David, sorry to hear you're not feeling too good. I have been through almost the same process, lost 88lb, and have had a peg fitted.. the best move i ever made, put on 28 lb in 10 weeks...a little nauseous occasionally, and incredible wind..!.. other than that few problems, everything going well, I do hope the same goes for you.  If i can help on any way, with advice or just someone to talk to please contact.

Best wishes to you and yours

Keep in touch

Mike (Isle of Man)

That is good news. What do you feed yourself using the Peg Tube? My implant is Tuesday May 17. I'm really worried about loosing weight. Yesterday at the Hospital i weighe 129 lbs. Do you have Cancer? Mine is in the lower esophogus and upper stomach. I fear deteriorating, pain and nauseau, weight loss and even dying if this doesn't improve. I had a Pet Scan this week I'll hear the results next week. Where is the Isle of Man? I am in Bay Shore, LI NY USA.Thanks for responding.

Just seen your message. So sorry for the delay in replying. fortunately i had very early stage cancer, but was treated as though i had full blown. its been a long time since we spoke, so i'd be interested to hear how things are for you. Im feeling much better. Perfect weight for the first time in my life. About 75% of my original strength but, that will do for me. The Isle of Man is slap in the middle of the Irish sea, in between England and Ireland. One of the things that gets to me over this whole episode is i cannot visit the USA in general, & New York in particular. I went a few years ago, you have a wonderful country. Looking forward to your reply, take care, and best wishes to you and yours, Mike

I am sorry to hear this news. oesophageal adenocarcinoma tends to be at the junction of the oesophagus and stomach. If it is at an early stage it can be treated successfully , usually with chemotherapy and surgery. Many people have a reasonably good quality of life after successful treatment, and we wish you well. You will find lots of information from these patients on this site.

Wishing you the best, David! 80 lbs. is a lot of weight to lose--I'm surprised they've waited this long to give you a j-tube as your body obviously need nutrition!  It's not fun having one, but it should help you be able to get on with the treatment for EC.

Are you going through chemo or radiation at this time? Are they planning surgery?

When i talked to the surgeon he said he did not plan on it. But i went through Radiation and a round of Chemotherapy. The Pet Scan was abnormal with swelling in my sphinxer muscle is why i can't eat properly. I am going through a new round of Chemotherapy until August. I go for a new Pet Scan tommorrow.
