Greetings to everyone !I would appreciate your help if you could tell if these are symptoms of ocd as I’ve have been very confused !

I started having this thoughts one month after the trip.I was on this school trip and I was suppose to sleep with my female Friend in the hotel room however a Friend of hers(female) decided to sleep in our room as well while bringing a guy Friend in (which she have known for many years and they were kind of interested in each other ),so I shared a bed with my female friend and they both slept on another bed

.However,I can’t stop thinking about how he may have come over to my bed and molested me at night .I have been having sleepless night and can’t stop thinking about it .I did not feel anything wrong when I woke up or during the trip though .

In addition to this I have also been constantly worrying about my health as soon as I felt pain somewhere and I can go on and on thinking about it for months ,asking family member about symptoms and also search online and felt the need to have reassurance and go see a doctor and still felt uncertain .

I also face problems like worrying that I have shaded my optical answer sheet wrongly during exam causing all my answers wrong or keying in numbers wrongly on my calculator during exams and so on,I then will go on and tried to remember about how I have already checked the answers again and again during the exam and what I did when I was checking but I’m still uncertain if I have actually check it correctly .

.I constantly feel that my head is exploding and always stress and worried because of thoughts in my head and it have been affecting my studies.

May I know if these are symptoms of ocd ?If so what kind of ocd it this ?I really appreciate your help !Thank you so much ! x

They are certainly symptoms of OCD! I've posted about the school trip in answer to your previous post, but it sounds as though you have health OCD as well.

I remember having health OCD when I was about your age, constantly checking my body for symptoms. The more you examine yourself for any minor pains and such like, the more you will find. And they don't mean anything. Resist the temptation to google symptoms, because as is well known, if you read about an illness, you start imagining that you have it. The fact is that the vast majority of young people like you have no physical health problems to worry about.

Going to your doctor about all these health worries may put your mind at rest for a few moments, but you'll start worry all over again once you leave the surgery. Better to go to your doctor and ask about OCD and get a diagnosis and a referral to a therapist.

The checking your answers is also classic OCD. And the more you check, the less certain you will feel. Allow for a once-over check before you hand your paper in, and then let it alone.

Exams can put a lot of pressure on young people, and it's important that you allow yourself a break from study. Is there someone at school who you can talk to about it?

I appreciate your reply!I think more negative thoughts definitely comes when I’m stressed out and school really make me very stress out with constant projects and to achieve higher grades .

I am constantly spaced out not being present ,sad and can’t seem to enjoy anything , I really hope to be relax again since I haven’t felt that since getting all those negative thoughts that pops out .yes I do have counsellor in school to be consulted ,I will see if I should find a counsellor to talk to !

Try not to demand too much of yourself with exams. It can be so pressurized, but not all the best students get straight 'A's and getting straight 'A's isn't always an indicator of real ability. Just do your best. There are lots of excellent places at excellent universities, if that's where you want to go, that don't require straight 'A's.

Healthy minds matter, and can be just as important to success in life. Read Daniel Goleman's book Emotional Intelligence.

I remember being told at school that A levels are the hardest exams you will take, and I think that is right!

Medication could well help, and sertraline or another SSRI antidepressant is the usual one for OCD. It can really feel like a big cloud has lifted, though it may take a few weeks before you feel the benefits. Cognitive behavioural therapy, or CBT is also used for OCD. That involves challenging what OCD is telling you and confronting it head on.

But having a chat with the school counsellor about the pressures you are under really could help as well.
