Hello,

I would just like some general advice on how you all deal with pain.

Any advice or tips would be appreciated.

Hi. I keep any painful joints covered and warm at all times. I have pain in my thumb joints, wrists and knees. I use prescribed painkillers, (codeine, because I can't take anti inflammatory meds,) and also pain gel from the doctor. I have cortisone injections at intervals. I also use something recommended on here - a product called Dynamint. It comes in a roll on, pump action or squeeze dispenser. It's all natural ingredients so you can use it whenever you need to. It smells nice. I buy it online from Holland and Barrett. It really helps. Hope some of that might be useful.

🙂🌸

I use Cocodamol and tubular bandages on knees, wrists and ankles. Gels and creams have never helped - but as I have inflammatory arthritis that's probably why.

Exercise/stretch as often as is comfortable - slowly.

Thank you for responding to my post, sometimes the pain just gets me down and I lose motivation, speaking to other people who offer advice helps give me that push again to try again. 🥰

Pain gets all of us down!! Coping with it is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to learn. "Talking" to others for long gets me really tired - "speaking" to people on the forum keeps me alive - just to know there are so many fantastic people out there who 'really' know what we are going through.

Be happy! 🥰💐👵🏻

Hi, I looked that Dynamint up online and thought I would order it but I’m from America and don’t understand the foreign currency exchange. How do I know how much it is with the American dollar?

Hi. There is probably a place on the web page where you can change the pricing to dollars. Otherwise you can Google a pounds to dollar converter.I think you can get Dynamint in its original form- it was originally made as an udder cream for milking cows- on Amazon.com, but it might onky be available in large quantities.

Hope this helps.

I am so glad. I had terrible pain in my hands and wrists when I was waiting for cortisone injections and the Dynamint was such a help. Hope you find it works for you.

Good morning. The only things that worked for me, regarding pain, were Co-Codamol (30/500) and Naproxen. Like Marnie I can't take NSAIDS now. I also find that a wrist support helps with wrist and thumb/finger problems. Gels of any sort never seemed to have any effect for me but others find them useful. Many others also say that taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements helps as well

I take daily glucosamine, omega oils, have regular ginger and tumeric, also copaiba oil, and essential oils topically. Naproxen I can't take but it is classed as an NSAID. So if bad I do take co codamol as well.

I have used all of the above mentioned methods and then some, lol. Some days, I get better results than others. When coping with my chronic pain, I have used what I call "mind over matter" therapy. I concentrate on the specific chore or activity that I want to accomplish. I try to think about how great it will be to achieve that goal, the satisfaction, contentment and importance of the results. I picture the actual "event" and the outcome. I pray, meditate, pep talk myself. Whatever positive thought process that I can use. I use all of my energy to focus on the desired results and not on my pain. This may seem silly or small but this usually works for me. I just make up my mind that I am going to do something and push my thoughts to overcome and/or deny the pain.I'm not telling you that I can do this all day every day. I am able to do this many times a week, however.

I have a very strong faith in God and try to have a positive attitude towards everything. These things help me to live the best life that I can. Best wishes and God bless you!

Hello,

Thank you for responding to my post. I think my issue is concentrating on the pain too much and also I find it difficult to try and rest during the day. I found your reply most informative and I will certainly try your techniques with dealing with pain.
