Hi, I’m 57, have had swollen and quite painful finger joints (the ones closest to the nail) for a few years. Also confirmed OA of thumb joint. About a month ago I put my hand onto the bed, putting the weight through the fingers and my little finger joint collapsed under me (again the one nearest the nail). The pain was quite something, like a sprain, and it’s still sore, red and swollen. I can move it, but last week it started with a clicking sensation when I bend it in the joint below the painful one. I’ve tried NSAID gel - no relief, and a splint again not much help. I’ve seen people recommending CBD cream, do you think that would help and if so any recommendations on specific CBD cream and where to get them?
Thank you
Nicky

Following your post, as have exactly the same, top joints of fingers & my thumb joint low down, scaphoid I believe. Feels like it’s permanently dislocated. Been offered to have it fused, but worry if I do t have the use of my thumb, fingers aren’t much good. So I put up with the pain.
Morning, not sure what medication you are taking but the only pain medication that works for my OA is Co-Codamol (30/500) and Naproxen. I can't take NSAIDS nowadays. I never found any of the gels to have any effect at all. Many people say that taking Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements helps. Has your doctor suggested Cortisone injections, not good for frequent use as long term use as can damage the joints further but they can give good relief from pain in the shorter term. Holding your hand in moderately hot water can also ease the pain.
