How yoga enhances our humanity

There are so many threads to discovering a yoga practise that meets you where you are at. I loved being part of the steering group for Kidney Beam that launched in May 2020, (funded initially by Kidney Research in partnership with resource support from Kings College Hospital, London...) and creating classes that fostered a deeper embodied connection with each person's unique body and mind. In this blog piece for Beam, I share how yoga has and continues to be such a companion.

The link is below for you, as you wish.

Keep opening up to how yoga speaks to you. There are many paths to explore. It is a path for wholeness - meaning it asks repeatedly we recognise with compassion and honesty, patterns we have that hold us back. We all develop habituated patterns for many reasons.

Yoga is a somatic activity - meaning it fuses mind and body in its wisdom - ultimately aiding the practitioner to remember these are not separate.

Enjoy your unique exploration. The more in tune we are to our bodies, the more likely we are to listen and to consciously respond to their needs. e.g better nutrition choices, improved sleep, greater energy from breathing better, better relationships because we are able to express feelings rather than stifle them...we expand our view to recognise our many blessings.....yoga enhances our humanity in so many ways...we take a far more holistic view of life...in simpler terms, it helps us live from an inner well that is ever-renewing. Always a practise...the rage, the tears, the grief, the anger, the despondency - are all part of reclaiming our true nature and spirit.

In warmth,

Ciara Jean Roberts
