What we can learn from the sloth

Animals are such mirrors of all the possibilities that exist in the universe. All the ways of being that pulse through the ether. We truly dwell in infinite possibilities.

This is a lovely poem, honouring the sloth - I love sloths! Do you? What slowing down might feel necessary in your life at the moment. The mental machinations that keep us pushing way too hard, creating enormous strain and tension in our bodies. Muscle tension, high blood pressure, inflammation of all kinds...

Along comes sloth as cooling medicine for our body mid system...

Here's the poem for dear sloth. The Sloth by Theodore Roethke

In moving slow he has no Peer.

You ask him something in his Ear,

He thinks about it for a Year;

And, then, before he says a Word

There, upside down (unlike a Bird),

He will assume that you have heard

A most Ex-as-per-at-ing Lug.

But should you call his manner Smug,

He’ll sigh and give his Branch a Hug’

Then off again to Sleep he goes,

Still swaying gently by his Toes,

And you just know he knows he knows

How can the sloth help you slow down at the moment? Breath, asana, eating...are we hoovering our food! Are we chest/shallow breathing....let sloth help...
