The beauty of yin yoga

Happy October dear Community.

This month for me feels to be one of embracing stillness. Yet also feeling into how that accessing stillness, energises and revives our mission here on Earth! The depth of feeling so very comfortable in your own skin.

With the medicinal aspects for the somatic nervous system that a yin yoga practise offers, let yourself drift into the dreaminess and the restorative blessings that slowing down gifts us. You may already be familiar with yin yoga. Or if not, just let your imagination drift into quiet possibility.

A yin yoga practise has foundations of practising compassionate stillness. Of being with ourselves, through all the ups and downs. Without an end game. Just for the sake of being. To listen to those whispers of your within, and respond consciously to evoke and pull the gossamer strands of consciousness through - that’s what changes our lives. The stillness, the listening with tender, non-judgemental attention, and then sliding into action. Sensing, feeling, action - true embodiment.

And my! That’s a practise.

Gentle reminders such as:

Acceptance is:

opening the heart

turning inwards

willingness to receive

to step into, to feel

creative - it’s so nuanced and so vast

Acceptance is not:

resignation

easy

weakness

giving in

October begins with the letter O. The circle. The ever renewing. The Openings.

A lovely time to calm the nervous system and explore a yin yoga practise. Just as we have the daylight and sunshine, so too do we need the moonlight and darkness. Yin and yang. Light and dark. To allow the inner wisdom to be given a voice. Not to be silenced.

Let’s create magic this October. Gently, from a deep listening and grounding place.

Here is an October gift for you. A 90 minute yin yoga practise that is free. If this is your fist time with this style, be kind. It takes compassionate practise to cultivate comfort within. If that feels too overwhelming, save that one for another time and avail of a shorter 25 minute practise, also linked below, to settle yourself.
