hi everyone has anyone on here been for a ESA Medica... - NRAS
hi everyone has anyone on here been for a ESA Medical and what does it involve ?
Hi Rosedale, yes I've been through the system twice now. The medical it's self is nothing to worry about it's the report afterwards that's the problem!
When you arrive you'll be asked to sign in (showing you can use a pen to write) then told to sit in the waiting room. The type of seat you sit in will be noted.
When the assessor (could be a Doctor/Nurse or Physio) calls you into the room, they will then introduce themselves and go through the process with you. You will then be asked how you got there, if accompanied and method of transport, how long it took you to travel.
During the assessment you'll be asked a series of questions relating to your health and mental wellbeing, the assessor ticks boxes on the computer program. They may carry out a physical examination to check how you raise from the chair, bend, reach the floor etc (Please note: even how you sit, get out of the chair and walk across the room is assessed).
When finished you'll be thanked and shown out. Once the report is finished they send a copy to the DWP decision maker who usually goes along with their recommendation.
If you wait a week or so, you can then contact DWP and request a copy of the report. I found mine full of inaccuracies and play with words but I was still put in the WRAG (work related activity group) for 6 mths and I had to attend 6 work focused interviews at the jobcentre.
Some 10 mth later I received the forms to fill in again and this time placed in the support group.
Please don't worry even if you fail you submit an appeal then reapply for ESA while your waiting, thus starting the process again!
Good luck
Beth xx
Thank you Beth I will let you know how i got on xx
