Sorry I don't know much about it as we have the NHS (National Health Service) here in the UK.

tell us about that..

Hey Coonsanders - you will have to work a bit harder than that since this is a UK based forum and 99% of users are in NHS care!

Why don't you write a blog telling us a bit about Obama Care and then we will respond accordingly?!

I think Obama Care (2010 US Health Reform Bill) is a step in the right direction, and I hope it succeeds. It is going in the opposite direction to that of our Welfare Reform Bill. Which maybe you know something about?

hi

ive spoken to other americans on here but the reviews arent good.neither of them think its a good idea..the cost of health care is so much.i pay 600.00

per month..thats almost 10 thousad bucks per year.i have a pal in texas who

was paying 2,000 a month and trhey werent doing much for him.thats what he

was paying when he got out..its nuts.

I frankly do not know what Obama Care consists of, except it would provide health care to those who otherwise do not carry private health insurance, such as Blue Cross, Anthem, AARP, many more.

I understand , if they make it compulsory for everyone to have it, it is a policy that would simply cover the minimal amount of care, and would not be expensive, since most of those using it would be unemployed or underemployed.

It could actually be an advantage to paying $1000 a month for something you might not use, or use very little.

so your for it huh..are you britiah or american?

in reply to coonsanders

I am in the US, in the great state of Ohio.

I don't know if I am fully for it or not, I need to know everything that is in it.

But there is logic to it. We pay enforced car insurance to protect us against unplanned damages to our cars, why not for our bodies?

We can always get a new car. Much as we with RA would like otherwise, we can't get new bodies!

Imagine yourself as the US, and everybody who doesn't have private health insurance goes to the hospital or a dr., and the bills get sent to YOU! So, if they were required to carry this minimal health insurance, just like car insurance, then the insurance companies would pay you back. Part of what you spent, but not all. That is what is happening to the Medicare/Medicaid system.

Does that help? Make sense? Loret

I do not think that the obama care is dumb but it can be dangerous to everyone. Expensive and debilitating to the states because they will have to put more people on Medicaid. If you can afford the insurance but do not buy it then you will be penalized by the IRS(who will be in charge of enforcing it). If you continue to not buy the options available then you can face imprisonment. It will be more costly than the country can afford right now and might actually bankrupt the states due to overflowing Medicaid enrollment.
