I have been with children who have hand foot and mouth disease should i be worried
My son had it earlier this year and I was fine, I didn't catch it from him. I am on MTX so was worried like you - not sure if I should have been or not though - sorry!
A sibling of a child that goes to my sons school (who I see and talk to daily) had it and although he stayed away whilst he was at his worst I was with him while he would have been infectious and I have been ok. On MTX too. But this does not mean that you are unable to catch it though so would suggest you give your GP a call in the morning to confirm you will be ok. Regards Mel
This went round the primary school where I worked last year. I looked up on the nhs website. I forget the exact figures but it said if you had it as a child you won't get it again and about half of adults will have had it as a child but many if them will not know because the symptoms were so mild. It also said that you needed to be in very close proximity to catch it. Therefore i decided to be on the safe side to keep my distance from children displaying symptoms to be on the safeside.
I would recommend phone GP or rheumy dept for their advice.

Hate to admit ignorance, but I have never heard of this. I thought only cattle got foot and mouth! What exactly is it? LavendarLady x
Hello mads
I have been having a look at the NHS information on hand, foot and mouth disease, which you may find interesting:
nhs.uk/Conditions/Hand-foot...
It seems to suggest that most adults are immune to the virus that causes hand, foot and mouth, and that generally it seems to be a mild and short-lasting illness. To help prevent catching hand, foot and mouth it is suggested to simply practice good hygiene.
Kind regards
Sarah
