Hi Micky

You will get better but it will probably be a case of 2 steps forward and 1 step back. Hopefully, when they've got your drug regime right, you will be much, much better but, sadly, I think it's safe to say you'll never be 100%. You'll always have to take more care of yourself than 'healthy' people have to(I use the term loosely :-)) and listen to your body. But I'm sure you'll be able to get in and out of the bath again which - and I speak from experience here - is a major achievement when you haven't been able to do it.

And if they've caught it early enough, you'll hopefully have no outward signs like joint damage etc. The prognosis now for this disease is lightyears ahead of what is was even 10 years ago so don't be disheartened. It will get easier :-)

Would you settle for 99%? Took me a year before I could get in and out of a bath, but I can now if I want. Although prefer showers now as find them more soothing on aching joints. But most days I'm fine, and some days can even forget I have RA (nearly). Trouble is that age is also plodding on, so I realise that as much as I improve I won't be able to get back to where I was 10 years ago, or 20.... But don't despair, it can still improve loads more. Hi

These meds are quite strong and can take a few month (up to 6mth) before you feel the real benefit of them. Hang in there and although you'll never get back to 100% you might get to 95% which is pretty good.

It does take some time for the drugs to work properly but once they do you can feel almost "normal" again.

I've been on my meds for 18 months and I still don't feel 100% but every months I get a little better. Bub has it spot on with 2 steps forward 1 step back analogy. It's bloody frustrating but it does keep getting better, I'm sure the length of time is different for everyone and I don't know about you but my Rheumys did not prepare me for what was ahead. this forum is fantastic for its honesty and support, stick with these guys and you won't go wrong.

somedays 95% better, somedays 80% :) bloomin good I'd say!

I remember being at your stage, thinking I was much better but still couldn't get in and out of bath, I thought that was as good as i'd get but my consultant thought otherwise and made it happen!
