Have just had news that i am having an op on my left arm, because of numb fingers. No offer of cause, nor procedure. Could anyone let me what happens next please

I would guess its something like a carpal tunnel nerve release, or a similar kind of procedure in your elbow. I'd ask a few more questions though - like how are they sure it is coming from that point? I say that, because it is actually quite common for finger symptoms to be coming from your neck, and thats an area that is much more risky surgery. Did they do nerve conduction studies? If not, ask for them.
Yes I'm all for being proactive and they can't just tell you that you are having an opp so they must have suggested or advised you to have this procedure? So you should ask what the nature of the op is and why they think it's necessary and how long the recovery period is - what are the odds on it sorting out your numb fingers etc. No one can make you do things against your will so you need to gather more info and ask questions before anyone here can advise you.
