Not really as its a lot to do with medication mine all crumbled as well so i have dentures. I do not like them wish i had my teeth but its due to my illness and pills that ruined my teeth.
I mostly take them out unless i have to go out. It is very difficult if not impossible for me to eat with teeth in.
Good luck in what you decide
Hi, thanks for prompt response, sorry you're having problems with yours.
Yes it's the RA and the meds, they muck you up don't they?
Worth going back and getting yours re-done?
J
YES YES YES YES Get them all out because you don't need any more pain than you already have, I had mine out years go lol and when they hurt now,mi can put them on the side and say ache now you barstewards. Les hassle , no more visits to dentist unless my nashers need checking over.
NO, NO, NO, NO.....dentures aren't always problem free, and can be uncomfortable too. A friend of mine had all his out a year or so ago (Parkinson's, not RA) and is still having enormous problems. He keeps getting infections and is still finding the dentures hard to wear. And if you don't wear them then your face starts to change shape, Maybe if you have a brilliant dentist who makes wonderful dentures it would be ok,but not a step to take lightly.... Polly
NO NO NO DON'T DO IT.
I've just had 2 years of dental treatment and another 2 of my back teeth removed, he made me dentures for the back of my mouth but their awful I can't wear top and bottom at the same time and feel I'm chocking when I do put them in.
Also, my former sister in law had all her's removed when she was only 40 because she couldn't face continued treatment, it wasn't long before she wished she'd never had it done.
Whatever you decide good luck.

I agree with Beth and polly. My father is very old, but he has dentures and they make his life a misery. Your mouth changes shape and they don't fit and you can't chew. So don't act in haste. Hope you're feeling better today
Sounds like the quality of the fittings may be in question for so many not being able to wear dentures made for them.
In my case, with RA and PA both, the jaw bones were being deteriorated, resulting in loose teeth and possibly costing thousands to repair, only no guarantee the repairs would survive further damage. Had them all out, had to return to work toothless after a weekend at home to recover. Work friends were sympathetic, though a guy from India proceeded to tell me all about oral hygiene and what I should have done. I was pi----ed...Of course I had been doing all that and seeing the dentist often.
After 6 weeks, I could go back and be subjected to taking plaster impressions of my gums and the final permanent dentures were ready in another week, I was also alllowed to make some suggestions in the alignment of my front teeth on the denture because, I was familiar with the thin upper lip my Mom had as a result of her dentures. So, I asked to have them alighned just the way my originals were, with just a slight flare outward instead of straight up and down. The dentist really liked the finished product and said he would use it for other young patients. I was only 41. It worked and has served me well. I put those suckers in my mouth and never went without them until I had to go to surgery. Except for cleaning every day of course. At surgery, I just told the nurse she could have my teeth after I had already said good bye to my family. Only my MD son has ever seen me without my teeth and I'm keeping it that way.
You have to put them in and leave them so your gums adapt, but they need to be an excellent fit first! Gees, can't believe I just wrote all that! I sincerely hope you all can get satisfactory results with your teeth. Loretxxx
Oh dear, where do I start?? I am a dental technician (with RA) my work is in removable prosthetics, or dentures. So I make them to a clinicians prescription. I also lecture in and train technicians and clinicians in advanced techniques. Firstly to all those who think it's a great idea to have all your teeth out: DONT! If you do that, we are trying to hang something (dentures) on nothing (your gums) and that ain't easy. If you have problems with your dentures, do what you would do if you bought a car that doesnt work properly, go back and complain! Or go somewhere else. Loret sounds like she has a great dentist or Clinical dental technician. Look on the internet to find specialists, or those with post-grad qualifications in prosthetics. Or ask around. Personal reccomendation is the best advert. Hope this helps you. But please jan66, don't have your teeth out.
