My Rheumy has written a letter to my GP , I phoned the Rheumy1s secretary and she told me it says Inflamatory Arthritis, what exactly is this? When I saw him a few weeks ago he did refer to it an RA. CONFUSED ,? YES LOL any ideas as to what it all means. ty

It's the same thing. I was diagnosed with Acute Inflammatory Poly-Arthritis and got a bit of a surprise when my RA Nurse said "So, you've got sero-negative RA then"...I didn't realise it was the same disease and was upset for not having had my condition explained properly. Somehow hearing the words Rheumatoid Arthritis was so much worse! As long as you are receiving the treatment you need I wouldn't worry about what they refer to it as All the best, Jo.
Hi Philip, like Jo said it is pretty much the same thing and treated by the same consultants and with the same sort of medication.
There is a good site called "about.com" which will explain in more detail the different types of arthritis and why they are named differently.
I myself wouldn't worry to much about it as it can get so confusing, as long as your RA is well controlled that to me is the main thing.
