Hi, I don’t know weather anyone has experienced dizziness that they cannot get rid of but I’m suffering quite badly with it at the moment. I’m on Methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine and folic acid 6 days a week apart from my Methotrexate day has anyone else experienced this and what have you done to help ? Any advice is welcome as I’m at my wits end. I’ve been on these medications for 6 yrs now x thanks

it may not be related to your drugs. Seek medical help. I often get BPPV. I use a vestibular physio for diagnosis and cure.

It’s funny you should suggest this, I had fluid behind both eardrums last yr which eventually cleared up and then I had to have antibiotic ear spray for my right ear as it was inflamed. I also had a CT scan before Christmas of my head, ears and nasal passage but im still waiting for the results. It’s the dizziness and head fuzziness I’m struggling to deal with, I think I need to push with my doctor more because I’m finding it pretty distressing now thanks for the advice though I’m going to mention that to my doctor as a possibility.

I’m just getting over bi lateral glue ear…BPPV happened when glue ear at its worst but I often get BPPV. GPs will just give you anti sickness. See if you have any vestibular physios in your area. Knowledgable people.

I did suffer constant dizziness a number of years ago ago, as well as weight loss and nausea. It turned out to be low cortisol, due to adrenal insufficiency, from long term steroids, that had atrophied my adrenal glands. Once on the correct dose of steroids, I felt much better.

note my diagnosis of Stills disease so I’m slightly different but it is a RA condition. I will be brief; yes I have dizziness and fuzzy heads, I liken it to feeling like a helicopter is landing inside my skull. It’s transient and seems harmless. I am not taking any RA medicine or drugs that may cause it. I do have low BP and recently discovered high cholesterol but these are ruled out as the cause. I’m normal weight for my age and have been on HRT for about 11 years. So nothing that can be blamed for the ongoing dizziness. Reading led me to discover that Stills and other RA conditions can damage the inner workings of the ear. I have put it down to this. I also read RA can affect the digestive organs so I’ve put my gastric issues down to that too. My GP is clueless so this seemed like an easy way to deal with it to me as the GP just hands out scripts for meds with debilitating side effects. However it’s definitely worth following up with a specialist if you can as all of these things could be a sign of something different. Wishing you better days.

Have you had your ears checked…they can cause dizziness?, Ask your GP to refer you to a physio with vestibular disturbance training…or just phone your local physiotherapy practice.

My GP showed me Epley manouvers they worked for me, although it can be scary at first because it brings on a vertigo attack. Sadly though it does come back xx Good luck

Epley should only be done to you by a qualified therapist. Trying it yourself can cause problems.

Here in the Midwest US it is allergy season. I had dizziness, nausea, waking up with double vision. I started on Flonase one spray a.m. each nostril, one spray p.m. It took about 3 days, but am much improved. One day last week I awoke with awful vertigo. I learned there is a connection to fluid in your head and vertigo. Excess fluid puts pressure on everything . I would see a doctor.

I’m on the same meds and have dizziness and tinnitus that seemed to have gotten worse with methotrexate. I think the root of the problem is my ears. I’m going to try to get a referral to an ENT.

I have been the same for about 4 or 5 weeks, if I turn my head when I'm walking I start going sideways. I had an appointment with my RA consultant last Wednesday so thought I would mention it to him, the rheumatology department rang me the day before to cancel said the doctor had been called on the wards. Will have to wait to rebook havnt seen him for 6 months. Have my bloods done every 12 weeks. I am on metoject and orencia injections folic acid once a week.

Hi, I don’t think anyone else has mentioned this but have you had your eyes tested at an opticians recently? I frequently get attacks of vertigo and it can last for many days. It can also come on very quickly for no known reason. The last bout I had, it was the first thing the doctor wanted to check, plus my blood pressure. One time it turned out I had an inner ear infection so I also got my ears and hearing checked - (the optician can do this for you too.) Looking at screens for too long can bring on dizziness for me. I try to remember to look away frequently for breaks and blink more often too. I do sometimes take a travel sickness remedy (Stugeron) to help when my head is dizzy. I was on the same meds as you are taking for many years but I don’t think they caused the dizziness, apart from the well known brain fog of methotrexate. I hope you get sorted soon.

I have RA and was on Mtx 10mg but since no symptoms and blood tests normal, have been taken off the med since Nov. However I have been suffering from chronic fatigue and persistent dizziness and BP up and down since Feb this year. Been told no treatment for CFS and they cant give me anything for the dizziness. Taken me off all BP meds since I have both high and low. Fatigue is less but the dizziness is hard to deal with. GP did suggest physio so I will follow this up. Maybe this might work for you too? Hope so, take care.

I suffered with dizziness, had tests etc but what eventually worked for me was YOU TUBE videos for dizziness. Been doing the exercises for a year, or more. Now feel so much better and do some form of the exercises every day.
