This is one of the most beautiful coastal areas in the world. And proves RA doesn't mean it's the end of normal life. I'm in this photo too! its St Columban round the corner from Carnac Plage. We made sandcastles, ate french stick filled with chocolate and wrapped in foil to heat up in the sand. Making memories with family is so important. For those about to go on holiday enjoy yourselves and make some good memories too. x

Very good advice. We’ve went to Carnac some years ago. It’s a lovely area. I love the sound of chocolate filled French stick cooking in the sand. What fun and what a memory.

Is this a recent photograph?

Last week. I took some on my phone but others on my camera. Then had to wait to download as lost my cable. It’s a beautiful bit of the world relatively unspoiled and we were their Bastille day for the fireworks on the beach. We went to Paris, then down to Rennes, Vannes, Auray then Carnac. Went via Caen as cheapest crossing. In fact we went to the Museum and looked at photos of people on the megaliths. My husband showed them one of our son, over 30 years ago on a megalith and they want to put a copy of it up too. He’s just sent the museum a high definition copy along with some others taken over a period of 15 holidays in Carnac. Our granddaughter was a joy even if exhausting ! She was the excuse for French chocolate bread.lol x

Sounds a wonderful holiday. I bet your grand daughter will talk about the French chocolate bread for years to come. How interesting to be able to send them photographs over such a long period of time. I think we must have been on a campsite up beside the stones.

I date back to when you could walk right up to and touch or even climb on the stones at Stonehenge - my now grown up boys were lucky to be able to do that too. Those were the days, we may have been able to go up close or even touch them but they were respected - no one sprayed paint on them back then.

We are talking about going to France this afternoon, our problem is we just can’t decide where we want to go or even which terminal we want to use. I expect the wait at Dover was longer than Caen. Not a fun start to a holiday is it. Quite liked the idea of going to Bilbao and driving up from there but we’d have to try and find places to stop. There are times I regret getting rid of our camper - we didn’t realise how easy it made our holidays.

Brittany Ferries has great food. Caen was nice but the queue long. We aren’t that far from Dover but object to P&O on principle. We thought it would be easier to miss the Cherbourg drive too. We used to go to Les Saules camp site it’s long gone but Le Grande Metairie was nice. The camp site cabin was clean , bright and although the site was big it was not too large. Going to join family was really lovely and it bought back so many happy memories. It was also just before Le Mons so busy. I used to have to go to work suited with heels; very professional so holiday camping and being in shorts for 3 weeks was bliss. No make up, no pressure just fun and great food was so wonderful. Now retired I still enjoy being casual and it’s lovely to go 5 star all inclusive but the relaxed sharing of a BBQ and wine in France still brings me so much pure pleasure.

PS The museum are collecting images of the megaliths if you’ve got photo’s too it would be a good idea to show them for their wall. XX

I’m very envious. We visited here many years ago. Spent several holidays working our way down the west coast.

Ohhhh how wonderful. So chuffed for you. You are right. Making memories and having fun is one of the most important things we ever do. It's not always easy, but so rewarding for everyone. I had very bad news about my health, so we had 10 days in Dorset and now a week on the Isle of Wight in Freshwater Bay. Lots of walks and swimming, Brrrrrr! We have seen so much beauty and had some lovely encounters along the way, our hearts are filled with joy. It would have been hot enough at times to have chocolate filled baguettes, but we had delicious ice cream instead.More holidays coming up, depending on what treatment I will be having.

Life is precious and difficult at times, but always there to savour little moments of joy 😊

So sorry to hear that you've had some bad news and are facing more treatment but hope that you have many more holidays and more importantly, lots of moments of joy - of whatever size! 😘

I’m sorry to read of your very bad news which makes it even more important to appreciate life. Ice cream is one of life's real joys makes the most sensible person regress to childhood. We decided back in December to make the most of our time and travel as the past few years have been hard on both of us. So it was Paphos in May. France in July and Grand Caneria in October. Life could be described as swimsuits and sunglasses! But your so right every day is precious even if sometimes hard. I’ve never been to the Isle of Wight yet sailed past many times. I'll put it on my list of places to visit. X

Lovely picture and totally agree about making memories. Family are taking me on holiday end of August , a proper holiday staying where there's a pool and near the beach, so will enjoy being with them especially 7 year old grandson. OH doesn't do holidays like this so I'm grateful to them for including me.

Have a good un 😊

Its so hard when someone else is a home bug so its great your able to go with family. A 7 year old is going to be a whirlwind of fun. When away it was lovely that our son drove albeit too fast instead of my husband. I think next year well go back but made a mistake and bought a new car the other year thats proved to be a bit too small for long journeys so we'll be looking to get another HRV before then. It wasn't big enough for the scooter and luggage which was ok because it wasn't too hot had it been I might have struggled more walking some distances. France is behind the UK in terms of disabled access and it was fine but a couple of times I'd have liked to walked round the bay which I couldn't do so waited for the family to do it. However I was in the shade and it's lovely to just watch the world go by. x

I accepted my OH view about hols and would take myself off on my own but now difficult with RA, so grateful to family. Our grandson is our jewel in life. Agree about France behind about facilities for ones with disabilities, weird when their medical system is excellent. Have to wonder where the ones with disabilities are and why they don't use their voice? Like you I sit in the shade while they do more active things.

Lol at your son driving faster than you like think it's the norm our son is similar.

it’s beautiful xx
