Just lost my covid virginity ( tested pos this am) and the system has worked beautifully. I've already got my prescription for antivirals and they will be at my local pharmacy tomorrow.
My qu is...what are other people's experiences if taking molnupirovar, and how soon into getting covid did you start on it? And how poorly were you before starting them?
Big up to NHS for this working so well!

Bet that’s not one of the virginities you set out to lose!
I am severly immune suppressed and had Paxlovid delivered to my door the day after I tested positive in Feb 22. The system worked brilliantly - as you say kudos to the NHS- and within a day of taking the pills I started to feel better having felt pretty crap.
By day four it was almost all over. Had an unpleasant metallic taste during the five (possibly seven, can’t quite remember) day course but that’s the only side effect I had. It went when I stopped the pills. I think the antivirals prescribed work on the same principles but with different names so hopefully you’ll be cured as fast as I was! Best of luck and hope you’re back to fighting fit very soon.
Hi please could you tell me if you stopped your methotrexate ( or other ra drugs) whilst taking paxlovid. I rang the 'assessment' service but told at the time that my symptoms (temperature, o2 stats, BPressure) were mild so I did not need anti virals, however now on day 7 I am not so sure...
When I got Covid in December 22 I was sent Molnupiravir as I can’t take Paxlovid. I started it on day 3 of having symptoms (New Years Eve!) It worked very well for me and I was monitored by phone and text in a virtual ward.
I had no vile taste in the mouth (like others report with Paxlovid) and no side effects that I recall other than headaches which I assumed were the Covid itself.
Good to know I'm getting the one without the bad taste. Today has been a good day to do nothing at all in the garden, in a reclining chair! And so to bed.
Glad to hear. I tested positive on the weekend after having numerous health appointments last week and hearing many coughers it's my second official time I think had in winter prior to it being announced. Touch wood it doesn't seem to be as bad as last year. Interesting it's the same week in June I had it last year I haven't had the anti viral and was booked in for the booster have a runny nose with this bout.
Thank you all for your reassurances. I knew it would get me sometime, but it was a bit scary this morning seeing the 2 lines, after first shielding and then then dodging the bullet for over 4 years
Yes your heart sinks I think many people are not testing going about their business with it now rightly or wrongly. Last time I was positive it took at least 10 days for a second line to disappear...
Hope it goes very fast like mine did Greynot. 3rd day I was negative last February. My line was very faint though at the start so I thought here we go I'm just starting with it. No antivirals as I wasn't very ill but the NHS rang me every day for a week. That Was my first time too and I was so scared when a line showed. Hope it is mild and goes fast. X
TBH I can't remember which brand I had as it was a few years ago. They were delivered by a courier on the day I reported it. I was also placed in a virtual Covid clinic. Got on with the pills well. Although I tested positive for 10 days I wasn't ill. Covid is on the rise again.
I didn't know antivirals were a thing for covid! I am on day 13 and still struggling slightly after catching it from my boss, spending 4 days unable to get out of bed and then a very slow recovery 😒 For next time, how do you get hold of antivirals? Through your GP?
I got covid back in April for the 1st time and my dr sent email for antivirals but by the time hospital contacted (it was a weekend) I was on day 5 so the dr and I decided not to have them as my symptoms were mild.
You would have an emailed letter sometime last year (I think it was March) saying you 'might' be eligible. When you test pos you phone surgery or NHS 111 ( I got thru to surgery first). Yhry refer you to the national antiviral assessment, who assess you by phone.
Turns out I'm eligible thru combination of RA, methotrexate, asthma and age (74). So they sent me a barcode prescription to tell the pharmacy, who then order in as urgent. I'm waiting for a call to say it's in.
Ahhh, I was only diagnosed last November so probably missed this. My nurse did say to phone the advice line if I was ill but I just kept thinking I'd feel better after a day or 2. I'll know for next time, it's felt like a long haul!
You could ask your surgery about whether you can get 'the letter' as it also entitles you to free covid lateral flow tests...it advises you to have some up to date ones in at all times so you can test if you show any potential symptoms
It looks like they may have improved the system since then...or I've just been very lucky that everything lined up and fell into place. I didn't expect to get through to the surgery on a Mon am!! But it was easuer than NHS 111 who timed out on me
