Off Topic - Stbernhard's Daffodils

Last autumn, while we were each recovering from surgery, I planted some daffodil bulbs while thinking about Stbernhard and sending him good wishes, and to remind ourselves of spring to come. They have been glorious - they flowered prolifically for weeks and only finished last week. They will go into the garden soil in the autumn and continue to give joy for years.

They are lovely mine finished weeks ago, by the time I get home the orange blossom might be out and the grass will need scything! I bought a lot of Tesco bulbs last year and got lots of beautiful tulips in the Spring. I’m buying more when they sell them as very impressed with amount of blooms.

How lovely they are! 😍 🩷 I’ve just got some Sunrise Dynasty tulips left (large orange serrated edged with violet streaks) in a couple of containers and I’ve been removing the other bulbs in my many container pots to dry and store and plant in the garden soil in October. They have flowered for 3 months and been amazing. All my narcissi were from Parker’s and my tulips from Sarah Raven. All flowered and were a joy. Flowers are such a pleasure to grow/nurture.

Aren't they! I find planting bulbs in the autumn helps get me through the winter!

Yes, I love it too. October amd May are always so busy, planting the bulbs then taking them out! That’s my time spent last week and this with the help of my OH for the deep rooted ones as it’s like pulling mandrakes (think Harry Potter! 😁) It’s worth all the effort. 🩷

I've recently got into gardening and planted a lot of bulbs last autumn; I bought a lot of different daffodils and narcissi from Parker's (recommended by a friend) and they all came up whether in borders, grass or containers. The free gift was some tulips so I planted up some bulb lasagnes using crocuses, daffs and tulips and they turned out really well. I've replanted most of them into beds already but have read that it's better to dry and store them until the autumn - just not sure if I'm organised enough! 😂 I've never grown tulips before - and only did so because they were free - but they were lovely so I might buy some more next autumn 🌷🍂

I use Parker’s for my narcissi (and for many other plants too!) and Sarah Raven for my tulips. Both excellent companies. Been using them for years. Nothing has ever failed me in the garden from them. I’ve a porch full of little containers drying my bulbs st the moment. 😁 Yes the Parker’s free gifts are a nice touch. I adore tulips and got some gorgeous SR ones. Any are lovely though. I did a few large hotch potch pots of miscellaneous bulbs last October after I’d done all the rest and they looked lovely to see all different flowers and colours.

How lovely they are, like a host of white butterflies. I have grown a similar one called Thalia and love it.

I grew some Thalia, and they were beautiful too. These are Moonlight Sensation, with even more flowers on each stem. I'd not grown them before. Both types are wonderful!
