Hello everyone,

I am curious about the latest procedures for obtaining antivirals such as Paxclovid. And for those who took it, did it help?

I would really appreciate your feedback.

Many thanks.

You are no longer contacted. You have to get in touch with your gp, or 111 if out of hours. It still needs to be started within 5 days of onset. Eligibility was tightened, not all those on biologics qualify now, and many Dmards are not included. They will assess you and let you know if you qualify. If you’ve received a letter or email saying you may be eligible, inform them of this.

dear ks I am sitting at home wondering what time mine will arrive - allegedly it is being delivered from Chelsea and Westminster hospital at some point today. If you have Covid you need to call 111 and explain that you are immune suppressed. If you meet the criteria you will then get a call from your local Covid Medicine unit. That doctor will answer any questions you may have. I was the person that posted about wondering if it was with taking it. I’ve now decided I definitely will ( if it arrives!!) all the best

It also depends on what area you live in. In my case, 111 is not longer dealing with these requests. I had to go back and forth until my GP understood it's in their responsibility now to refer me for it. The team called me, they were mostly after if I am symptomatic or not. I was, so they issued it and my husband collected it very soon after ( in a matter of 2 hours it was available). I am on 15mg Methotrexate weekly and live in Northampton . I wish you a speedy recovery xx

I've just had COVID. On Wednesday after a positive test I rang 111 and they contacted my GP who then called me an hour later. The gp did an immediate referral to Respiratory@Home.

A Dr from there then rang me the next morning asked how I was, and if I had an oximeter which I had. She wanted my temperature and oxygen reading. As I wasn't too bad we decided to wait to see if I got worse before having antivirals. They are calling me everyday still for my temp and oxygen reading and asking how I am. I've luckily not been too bad at all with COVID, 1st time I've had it. I tested negative after just 4 days. But Dr are still ringing me today incase of any complications. I'm on benepali and sulfasalazine. I hope you have a fast recovery. X

hi I had really bad covid over year ago, had Paxlovid prescribed but was late arriving because of strikes 😡. Had real trouble getting help from 111, but eventually after 3 days got it. It really helped but made me so nauseous it was awful. They did warn me it may do so, but I was too ill to phone them for the antinausea drug they said I could get. If I had Covid again, I’d ask for the anti nausea drug at same time as Paxlovid. Would personally recommend Paxlovid but of course we all react differently.

Hello ks1955. I got Covid last March and it was terrible, I was so weak I couldn't move. As soon as I had the Paxlovid, I started to back to normal. A must!
