Diabetes (T2) in relation to Psoriatic Arthritis

Hi all, hope everyone is coping with the very cold weather.

Has anyone experience of these two illnesses and drugs causing one or both to worsen?

My diet is pretty much under control and not changed.

I’ve also managed to lose almost a stone in weight but my morning blood readings are going up… They used to be good at 6.5 but these days it’s more between 12.2 to 14.5!

There are days when I will only have a very light breakfast but my lunch time readings after metformin and glicozide can be 11.5?

I’m trying to get to grips as I don’t want to go on insulin.

All the best

It would be worth buying this book - think the link is for a second hand book

Get the book, plus a blood sugar monitor and do *exactly* what the doctor tells you and you ought to be able to get control of your blood sugar again.

Although saying that I had steroid induced T2 ( I took a three month course of steroids before my hydroxychloroquine kicked in, by the time I stopped the steroids I had had a routine blood test which showed the high blood sugar - I was not taking any drugs for it though.

might be worth asking to speak to your diabetes nurse at your practice as they have some good advice and might know what is kicking off as well.
