Firstly, for those that read my previous post, Sciensus finally delivered my emergency delivery of benepali to the local pharmacy so it was 6 days before I could collect it. Following months delivery arrived next day.
Anyhow, attended my appointment with a new consultant at hospital yesterday. She was very attentive, listened, had briefly read the highlights of my file. Outcome is an additional diagnosis of fibromyalgia. She is sure my meds combo for the RA is keeping that controlled, that these are different symptoms from perimenopause and its fibromyalgia.
Bit tearful, as I do already do much of the list of the holistic approach. But at least it’s not in my head! Referral to OT, blood tests for vit D levels and something else taken. GP appointment booked to discuss possible medication to help stay sleep (my priority). Already take pregabalin for nerve ending in feet, so let’s see what happens there.
Might to find a different job (again), as although this one isn’t stressful, I’m on my feet nearly all day and the adrenaline to get through that knocks me out next day. 8 months of this has most probably added to where I am now.

I’m sorry but don’t know anything about Fibro although a good few on here really do and will be able to comment. But please note we are not able to give medical advice so always talk to your doctor and it does sound like you’ve got a good one.
Bug hugs I have this mix too with a few more and one point I was happy being told I had Fibro when I went private as I knew what was happening to my body was not RA or OA but then began to think it was in my head.
Pregabalin gave me sleep but I have not been able to return to work due to lung and heart issues coming on board with diabetes so I just go with the flow for the time being.
Weather I find as does any on here with fibro plays a huge part so rain and wind not a great mix either and as I said to some one else yesterday I call fibro the bitchy sister of RA.
Thank you for the 🤗 Sometimes it just doesn’t feel at all fair! It does feel good with the diagnosis and knowing that changing meds for RA or HRT isn’t going to help. I’m really feeling this weather - the cold and damp. Urgggh That sounds a tough combo of conditions you have. I think my flow is changing again!
I have RA and OA which was diagnosed in summer 2022. When the pain and tiredness became much worse earlier this year, I assumed it was another part of RA. Finally managed to see the RA consultant after 5 months of pain all over my body and extreme tiredness, to be told this is fibromyalgia.
I take gabapentin for the fibromyalgia. Initially didn’t help, but after several months of gradually increasing the dose, it is now much improved. I still get very tired, and am learning to pace myself to be able to do the things I love. The gabapentin has also really helped me sleep. I had insomnia for 20 years, and this has made a big difference, in addition to helping with the fibromyalgia.
It is tough, but it will get better. I had days when I felt so low with no improvement in sight, then little by little, it turned the corner.
