To Give Hope

n 2018 I could hardly walk, or get out of the bath without help, I did try a few drugs until finding the right one that worked, that being hydroxychloroquine

don;t get me wrong I do have bad days but I have learnt to give in to it and rest, take pain killers, and that the flare will pass, I thought back in those days Id never be able to do anything again

but look what I am doing now

so I hope this helps someone? if anyone lives in Wales please feel free to come along next Saturday and meet me and support me in my first ever exhibition

Glad to hear you've improved, even if not completely. Lovely painting, as always.

Thank you & congratulations!

How refreshing to hear from somebody who started out as most of us did feeling there was no light at the end of the tunnel…& look at you now!

If only more people were thoughtful enough to post such good news.

Of course it is soul destroying to take a long, long time to reach our comfort zone…& it isn’t arrived at without a lot of pain & disappointment.

To those on here who have not joined you in your happy space yet…IT WILL HAPPEN!

ps I now eat normally too, I used to think it was food that made it worse and lost confidence in food but it wasn't. I wont lie I do get bad days but have learnt I do have RA and give in to it, I usally sleep a lot on those days it doesn't last then I am back to living life to the full again xx

Well done on having your first exhibition, have a fabulous weekend.

I remember your early posts with info about food. I went through a similar stage years back pre internet, spending time researching in libraries in books. A different world then.

Pleased you have found what suits you best, a balance of drugs and lifestyle. It isn’t easy accepting there is no cure at present for those of us with RA. Best wishes

Hiw fabulous! Great to hear this. Although I never managed the bath again and have a wet room, but that’s fine.

Good luck with the exhibition 🔥🔥🔥

Same here 😃👍 … all else now good but the bath is still just out of reach.

Wouldn’t have a cat in hells chance of getting out (after falling in like a lump 😅😅)

On the two occasions I’ve tried, I’ve caused a small sunami falling in like a lump 😬 Getting out is on a whole other level … I’ve been assisted/wrestled out by my husband like a slippery whale. Showers are definitely the way forward 😆😆. Small price to pay for feeling well again. 👍

hahaha that made me laugh (sorry!). I'd end up dying from hypothermia as don't have another half to drag me out.

Why is it that…even with a sturdy rail to hang on to….one’s legs will not cooperate to let us push up to get out of even an empty bath…with a nice thick bath towel in the base to stop us slipping? But in the same position on the kitchen floor…one can hang on to the sink or a cupboard & struggle up? Is it something to do with muscles being overheated in a bath?

The last time I got in or out of a bath was about 15 years ago…….but can still get up off the kitchen floor!

Thank you Veronica. My story is very similar to yours and I have posted it on here in the past. It is very important to let people know that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck with your exhibition. You are very talented.

This post is like a fresh air. I have been diagnosed recently and considering how I feel and all the comments I am so scared. Lots of dark thoughts in my head. This is what I needed for today. Thank you and good luck.❤️

The biggest thing is stress and this is very stressful but I am learning you have to let it go, there is nothing you can change by worrying or getting stressed!
