Only thing I would say is I would not recommend St George’s Hospital personally. No idea about the others 😊

I have a female Rheumatologist, better than any male rheumatologist I’ve had!

yes. Dr Sarah Levy at CUH. Very busy though and a long wait to see her, but she is brilliant. Been my Rheumy for years 😊

Hi, how long did you have to wait for an appt? and does she actually listen rather than just look at your bloods and then dismiss you saying it's all in your head ? (despite mri results)

thanks

I only get to see her once a year, but if I have a problem I speak to the secretaries and can get help. yes she does listen and will always look at options. If there is a problem with my bloods she lets me know straight away - even had a phone call at 6.30pm last December 😳

Go via the nurses helpline

can they get you in quick for a consultant appt for a flare? or do you just have to speak to the nurses?

many thanks

I tend to speak to the nurse ( or secretaries). I have had an urgent appointment it not lately.

A rheumy isn’t going to help with panic attacks you should speak to your GP about getting help with them and then it’ll help with your RA. No point getting treatment for one if there’s something causing it that’s not being treated. ( speaking from experience here)

I agree with @Karen12 re St George's. Avoid. There are a couple of good doctors (Professor Kiely and Dr Kaul) but the department as a whole is bad and there's a high chance of getting an absolute stinker. More interested in research and getting their names in journals than in looking after patients.

My Consultant is Dr Toby Garood at Guy's Hospital that is part of the same Trust (GSTT - Guy's & St Thomas's NHS Trust)
