best treatment for stress induced fibromyalgia with RA ?

Hi

I have stress induced fibromyalgia because my RA is not under control.

looking at taking some meds, doc has suggested sertraline antidepressants, but I am not sure they are more a long term thing. amytriptyline seems to be used but it looks like a complicated drug with side effects..anyone got any experience with these drugs. Ideally I would like something just to take down the fibro flares that I can stop easily once all this panic has subsided. I take methotrexate at the moment, soon to restart my hydroxy hopefully.

many thanks

Linda

I think you will find there is no easy solution as all fibro drugs are based on nerves and anti depressants so many of us take pregabalin or gabapentin or amitriptyline. I take for me 100mg of pregablin at night so I sleep but this weather my RA and Fibro are clashing a lot as all the humidity fibro certainly does not like and I had a maor fibro sensory attack yesterday.

There is no quick fix unfortunately its having a discussion with your GP and seeing which one gives you a faster result and easy to go up and down on it. Dee

I have in the past and as I don’t really drink now I refuse to not have a glass of I want one . I probably have one a month

It’s all Personal Response to meds and alcohol and any caveat’s GP has said

I drink with sertraline and pregablin. My preference life is shitty enough without a little pleasure

I agree with Deeb. Fibromyalgia is complicated. Symptoms are different for everyone and they constantly change so does your medication. Amitriptyline didn’t suit me but pregablin does. I can adjust this medication to suit my flares. I also take sertraline and this combination helps . Mind you humidity and heat means a full on body storm and nothing helps anything (RA/Fibro)

Amitriptyline (20 mg before 7pm) has worked wonders for me. It has gotten rid of nerve pain and I sleep more soundly now, which helps with fatigue and brain-fog. I would give it a go…
