Hey there all hope you're all doing as well as you can. I'm wondering if anyone has had really weird Gynae problems such as strange discharge, blood spotting etc. I have been checked out by them and luckily they've told me everything looks okay. However, they really don't understand what's going on.

Gynae problems
Weren’t you given any explanation at all?
I don’t know how old you are, but if you have been checked by a gynaecologist & told everything is normal ….could you possibly be menopausal? Very strange things can occur then.
But whatever is causing your symptoms….go back & ask what is causing them ……as there appears to be no cause for any treatment…..maybe you missed something …..& you will get a follow up appoinment ?
Either way …do ask to put your mind at rest….
Ty well to be honest it is probably the Meno again I'm 51 yeah I've definitely reached it 😂
TBH I don’t think all the recent publicity on the menopause is very helpful to the average woman having problems.
It’s all very well if you have open access to your gynaecologist to get the latest hormone treatments, or whatever else is advised, but from what I read that isn’t the case & must add to the anxiety a lot of women are feeling.
However we must remember our mothers & indeed our grandmothers went through it…& on the whole came through successfully.
I hope you get some answers soon, so that you don’t need to worry too much.
Any new medication recently? Some antibiotics too can cause a disruption to the steady flow of the cycle causing breakthrough spotting at times. They can sometimes change healthy feminine bacteria and result in yeast infections. I hope it settles, but if not don’t suffer anything and go back to let them know. Was this the GP you saw? A gynae may be more reassuring and helpful to tell you why with their specialist knowledge/experience. .
Am under the care of Gynae, I didn't have an infection. I had to have a Hysteroscopy and Colposcopy, tyXxxx
Hi LTD 💗 Glad to hear you’ve had the gynae investigations. I had a hysteroscopy in my late 30s. It was my under active thyroid causing my cycle to be very disruptive. When you said .. been checked out .. I wasn’t sure if it was by a physical GP exam and similarly when you said .. looks okay .. whether you’d been referred to the gynae for procedures, why I said refer to a gynae etc. My apols., I wasn’t sure if it was doc or gynae, I hope your symptoms are soon gone. xxx
I think spotting can be caused by stress or an infection . A discharge should be checked for an infection, possibly in your fallopian tubes or ovaries, which are hard to detect and can cause infertility. I would go back to the Gyn if you have an odd discharge.
what meds are you on? I was late thirties when diagnosed with RA and up to taking methotrexate my periods were every 28 days regular as clockwork. Took my first dose of methotrexate and my period afterwards was lighter, mainly spotting for a few days. On my second dose I had no period following it and never had another!
Yep me too. Just posted about this…
Hi there …. I have been through a few gynae issues since getting RA and it’s hard to tell if they are related or not. I went through spotting when not on my period and got checked out - all ok and it self resolved. I have also been told that I have low ovarian reserve - may be RA related. And I also had HPV on a smear which I am supposed to clear naturally but it’s not clearing - maybe because I am immune suppressed?
Either which way I have found it hard to find a gynae that understands RA and and Rheumatologist that understands gynae problems and wholly I believe that some are related some may not be.
I just make sure I get stuff checked out as and when they happen but something I have found it’s tricky to get and answer
note my diagnosis is Stills Disease which for me manifests as rheumatoid Disease.
I had a very bad bout of Cystitis that went untreated for several weeks when I was 16. When I was 17 I was diagnosed with Adult Onset Stills Disease. It is reported that AI may be triggered by bacterial infections.
Throughout my fertile life (I’m now 60) I always had unexplained gyne issues which were treated as thrush or Cystitis and even going to the VD clinic as they were called in the 80s but no cause was ever found and my husband volunteered for testing was all clear too. I tried various different oral contraceptives, the cap and the coil and abstinence but at 50 was still having issues. My husband had a vasectomy but the problem persisted and then the menopause started. Eventually a gynaecologist diagnosed Lichen Sclerosis and prescribed a steroid cream which keeps it at bay, there is no cure.
All the gels and creams prescribed to me for relief of menopausal symptoms of soreness and dryness stung and irritated too much, now I use the Everol conti. HRT patch and things are under control but not cured, I live with it. It’s miserable I know but it seems one AI increases the possibility of others and this proves true in my case as Lichen Sclerosis, Interstitial Cystitis, Deputyrens Contracture are all more of a possibility with other AI it seems. I’ve recently been diagnosed with a peptic ulcer caused by h- pylori and I won’t be surprised if that’s also in same category .
So not quite the same journey as you but an experience of strange gyne issues nevertheless. Hope you find a resolution soon.
This is based on my own experience and condition and we’re all different and I’m sure you’re seeking professional medical advice and attention as we all should when we experience anything unusual or concerning in our bodies.
Ty for that, that really really sounds awful. Take care 😀
I had suddenly developed painful heavy periods around the age of 42, I was also experiencing really hot flushes through the night, saw the gp & said i think its the menopause, he didnt think so but did a blood test which confirmed it & reluctantly put me on hrt, this helped with the flushes but not the periods.
I saw a gynae who after running tests gave me the mirena coil, this worked brilliantly, fast forward 5 years & the old problems came back, even after a smear i bled, was referred to the hospital who checked me over & removed the coil as it had been more than 5 years, said everything was fine 🤷♀️
Went back to original gynae who checked me again & couldn't find anything wrong, he said I've just got a funny womb 🙄 I had the mirena again & no problems, it's now been 8 years since & touch wood everything's still fine.
All this though was before psa diagnosis but thought I'd let you know incase it's not RA related x
