Interaction?

Please could anyone tell me if they have noticed a reduction in the effectiveness of Lansoprazole with now added Methotrexate? Personally I haven't seen any problem with the Methotrexate elimination/side effects because of the PPI. but reflux control has seemed to reduce.

In anticipation of your reply- Many Thanks.

Hello XGolf, sorry it appears no one has been able to share their experiences with you. We aren't medically trained so cannot offer advice, but we do suggest that you speak with your health care team about the troubles you are experiencing. Best wishes, Rosie.

Thanks Kitty. I'm having a gastroscopy next week to check me out. I'm happy you are doing well on the regime.

My daughter is on Methotrexate tablets 15mg weekly and Enbrel weekly injections. She does not take Lap..... Does it help with sickness feelings?

Hi

Lansoprazole is prescribed for gastric reflux & not for sickness. I recommend you see speak to your GP. Xgolf

I must be fairly lucky as I have omeprazole to use as and when and I find I don’t need it that often. I guess we are all different. Methotrexate is a strong drug tho so maybe if you do suffer from reflux higher doses would impact it. I would maybe contact your rheumy just to be on the safe side.

Thank you for that, grumpy girl. Unfortunately my reflux is severe so I'm on the max dose of Lans. continously. My rheumy is excellent but perhaps less concerned with what don't seem to be RA related symptoms. However, I'm staying positive.

Hi XHOLF, sorry to hear of your stomach issues when on Methotrexate. I was on that medication for a period of time both oral and self injection. I was on Omprezole to protect my stomach, but like you it was not protecting me from this med. I ended up coming off Methotrexate as it dis not do much to help my condition at all. The Omprezole that I was on was Gastro Resistant, but still failed to work properly with this medication. Hope you find a solution. Take Care x
