Im about to have my first infusion of rituximab. Can anyone who has been on it tell me if they've had many infections as a result? And have they cut out certain foods that are known to be risky i.e paté, soft cheeses etc?
Rituximab: Im about to have my first infusion of... - NRAS
Rituximab
I’ve been on Rituximab for several years and I’ve not had any more infections than I did previously. I’ve not cut out any foods (eg pate, soft cheese etc. ) either. However, that is my personal choice and not necessarily something I’d recommend.
I have been on it for six wonderful painfree years & have not had as much as a cold…& no I haven’t changed my diet..,,I eat lots of fruit & vegetables & cheat with a ready meal every now and then.
I do eat soft cheese & pâté, but atm I’m staying off smoked salmon.
So good luck with your first infusion…make sure you take a warm jumper & a good book…the first session usually lasts quite a while as the nurses judge the right speed fir you.
Afternoon Bernard Bear ,
I believe the hospital infusion takes about 5 hours , so take your lunch too
