Amgevita and Sleeplessness

I’ve been taking Amgevita for 8 months now and I have had problems sleeping for the past few months.

Also noticed thinking hair and frequent migraines and nausea.

Has anyone experienced this and what did you do to overcome this ?

Ruining my life …

Any information will be helpful

It is always the case that we blame either our medication of our disease for our problems first. I can't see any reports of this side effect with adalumimab, but of course everyone is individual in the way in which they respond. But it is worth looking at what else might be causing your present difficulties.

It's awful when you can't sleep and that makes everything else worse too. Could you come off it for a while (a month say?) and see if that relieves it - if it doesn't they you know you need to look at what other things might be causing it.

Hi , thank you for replying. Yes it causing havoc with my sleep but it might not be the meds as it was a game changer for me initially and I’ve never liked back despite all the horror stories I read about the side effects , which is my only concern. I do have a review later this month maybe I can ask the question but my worry is will my symptoms come back ? I’m also taking 20mg injection Methotrexate weekly and fortnightly Amgevita. Maybe they can lower the dose and see if that makes a difference perhaps. I’ve written everything down to ask the consultant, hopefully I’ll have some answer. Thanks again for taking the time to reply - such a good platform to share our experiences 🥰

Just a thought! Are you a female and in your forties? If yes, then it maybe the start of perimenopause (perimenopause can last between 2-10 years). Insomnia is a key symptom of this.

I started amgevita a month ago and the first night after first injection, I did not sleep at all, it seemed to hyper stimulate my brain. After that first night, sleep returned to normal pattern. Took 2nd injection this week but took it in the morning and did not have any sleep problem. So try varying time of day you inject. Generally side effects settle down within 3-4 weeks, you still have this problem 8 months on so as Oldtimer suggests, perhaps look at other meds/causes. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you for your response and yes I’m 48 and that did cross my mind. I have had a few attacks of migraine and nausea in the last few months. I had no side effects initially , it’s only been since May.

I have a review of my meds next week and have booked myself in for a blood test with the doctor to check for onset of peri menopause, which sound likely the primary cause. I don’t rate getting older , it’s no fun at all 😏
