I have methotrexate injection and my hayfever is out of control this year . Was thinking of getting private injection but can I do this while injecting methotrexate? Anyone experienced this thanks

You need to take advice from either your rheumatology team or a pharmacist. Hope you get a swift reply - hay fever is miserable.

My hay fever has been out of control this year too. I take Piriton Allergy (Chlorphenamine) as the dosage is one tablet every 4-6 hours. In a normal year I would only one in the morning but this year I'm taking one in the morning and one in the evening with the odd middle dose if I'm sneezing/eyes watering/coughing badly. The Boots own brand of Chlorphenamine also works well for me, but I don't have a box handy to see the dosage. (20mg Mtx). Your pharmacist should be able help if you can't reach your Rheum team. V

Hay fever symptoms seem very bad this year. Almost everyone I talk to seems to be suffering, including people who haven't had it before.

What sort of injection? Steroid or desensitising? And have you tried the full range of treatments? Cromoglicate eye drops, steroid nasal spray, as well as antihistamines, all regularly. Vaseline or similar around the nose before going out, wash hair frequently (and the rest of you and your clothes that might have pollen on them). Wear sunglasses.

Good luck and may we have some rain....!

If they work desensitising injections only work for the one season…privately they are very expensive & most nhs doctors won’t give them…. I had Kenalog a few times but the exorbitant price outweighed the benefit. Although it’s a nuisance I have found something like Sterimar which my ENT surgeon recommended for hayfever is just as effective…it washes up out the nasal passages without any nasty chemicals.Check with your pharmacist about what you can take when on MTX.

I agree with the aged crone (which Im sure you're not) Sterimar is good for clearing the nostrils and I find, best used at night.

You had better believe it…….on paper I’m a very elderly crone..in reality I’m as old as I feel on the day! Age is a number on a piece of paper & nobody should define themselves by a number!

You must get formal advice. The only thing that I do know is that many Drs and specialists now use fexofenadine instead of injections which are considered to be somewhat outdated.
