help folks please
Drink lots of water, pee bottle/bucket to hand, lemonade colored urine, not dark, drink hourly night and day RES/relax when you can, keep warm,as long as you pee OUT, then drink after passing urine to keep up with drinking, glass and some hourly, set alarm if sleeping, say 3hourly catch-up.6pints and more, gage how you feel.Hope you feel better soon.
thanks arrys just been sick as dog will try to do as you say
Little steps Paul, however much you've had try to double and increase over next few days and nights, keep mouth clean and better hydration, stretch and stand when you can night or day.
i think your bob on with drinking cause wifes saying i am not drinking gone as weak as a kitten haven't got strength for anything
You've been through a lot, esp passed 2years, but there is no alternative way to get back to where you need to be, it takes weeks/months so gently gently,as you feel just a little better, it will improve your spirits so to speak, keep writing simple and as easy as possible to check when you last peed/drank/ate,/rested.Same old routine, monotonous, but again you've no alternative, ease up when you can.keep safe, knowing you are setting the pace, all credit to you and it's tough,at present no alternative,I'm in a similar position, but different problem, so it's 24/7 for us at the mo.
Oh bless you..how awful ☹..I'm usually prescribed a course of steroids when I get like that..I've literally just got over a chest infection myself.. i was coughing blood stained phlegm..take some more medical advice if you are worried Paul..dont suffer in silence..At least you are getting the crap up ..prop yourself up to sleep ..stay warm ..sending you some strength..take care x
thanks ravey no blood but boy phlegm by the gallon they gave me steroids worked ok on knee and gave me some energy but would not give me 2nd dose put me on ventolin which made me go all funny but ok now got flow meter started at 150 200 now
Oh deep Joy..yep it can make you feel really dodgy at first that old ventolin 😫..nah they will only give you steroids for a short time but it sounds like you need something else to me ? I think its probably a good think that the guff is releasing itself and its positive that your peak flow has improved 🤞🤞.Just keep hassling the breathing nurse at your surgery..they are pretty helpful generally and they know their stuff. Steroids get you going dont they..I usually get a load of jobs done when I'm ill..crazy but I'm like sonic the hedgehog when I'm on them so I catch up with all the crap that I can't usually do 🤪🤪crazy ain't it..weirdly steroids don't work on osteoarthritis is what I was told few weeks ago by rheumatologist nurse so maybe there is more to your knee than osteoarthritis. I was told time and time again that was my problem..years of xrays. A nuclear bone scan showed activity that points to Rheumatoid arthritis...seronegative. Doesn't show in my blood.I think that's the key...time.It takes a long time to get diagnosed properly and then again to find medications that agree with you and work..knackers yard looming me thinks 🤣🤣
enjoyed that ravey me you same by what you say yep when i took steroids i was up and about and my knees are osteo and like you not in blood fibro decided with me but keeps asking for me to get blood taken when having flare not so easy yer dreading the crunch said knees at end stage trying injection again tomos but had it b4 and still waiting seems like op not having wheelchair noooooooooooooooo way
Really 👀...yeah get the operation..cant be doing wheelchair wheelies not until you give the ol bionic kneecaps a go ..hope you're well enough to have that jab tomorrow..see how you feel in the morning first. I think you will find they bag them up in threes ..I got osteo..then added fibro and eventually RA..same with my chest..asthma then copd then emphysema 🤣🤣🤣..you seem to get hatricks lol.
If your still coughing up green phlegm, it may be the infection hasn’t resolved and you need another course of antibiotics. Do you have an Oxygen saturation monitor at home to check your levels, and reassure your getting enough oxygen. I don’t ageee with the advice given re drinking large volumes of water. The advice is around 30ml per Kg body weight. Drinking a little above this is fine, but drinking way above that level you risk diluting the electrolytes in your blood, sodium which will make you feel weak and tired when low, as it weakens muscles. Potassium causes similar issues as well as heart palpitations and tingling pins and needles. Both can be dangerous, so please stick close to recommended volumes.
Steam inhalations are good for loosening secretions that are difficult to shift. I do feel you need reviewed the amount of phlegm you describe could be causing lower O2 levels making everything more of an effort, and potentially not getting adequate O2 to all your organs. Definitely rest up, sleep in an elevated position.
hi maureen yes i have oximeter it was reading 92 at one stage now upto 96/98 bp ok blood 7.4 flow meter was 150 now 200 but main thing now feeling really nauseous ill in spasms seem to get better by end of day they given 2nd dose of a/bs had steroids but wont give them again gave me ventolin oh boy that makes me go funny not whether i need it time a good healer giving steroid injection today knees so will give him some hearache if he comes he was ill last week i just reread what you said maureen from electrolytes and not feeling well is bob on thats is how i feel will do as told thanks
maureen what would cause to much potassium please i nominate you as consultant
So the more you drink plain water the lower your sodium will be. Sodium - potassium have a push -pull effect, so when sodium gets lower potassium gets higher. Also some foods are rich in potassium such as dried fruit, beans, potatoes, avocados, bananas, spinach, broccoli and many more.
high maureen trouble with me i have gastroparesis so i am all over the show think i need some blood checks and talk with my man at the hospital cause i think its getting worse things could be a lot worse so you have been very helpful thanks
Oh gosh. That sounds awful. You definitely need to keep hydrated. All the best.
I agree with MaureenGibson that your infection may not have cleared up yet, especially if you are coughing up green phlegm. Do you have a temperature? If so contact your GP again.
Otherwise the steam inhalations will also help to shift the phlegm. Sleep propped up too if you can. And as others have said make sure you are drinking plenty of fluids throughout the day.
I hope you will feel better soon but call your GP if not.
