Hi everyone

A quick question. How do you apply for a blue badge for car parking?

Google it. Takes you to govt website and then that takes you to relevant Council website. Just reapplied for my mum’s for her. Someone can apply for it on your behalf if you need help.

There’s a few places in my town you can get them but you need to take proof of disability. They ask you questions and take photo..it is a really helpful card as most parking is free and you can also park free on double yellow lines although I don’t.Some parking allows an extra hour with blue badge.

You could go to your local CAB and ask for their help

Hi Quick update to my message. I went online to the government blue badge web site and applied there.

The process took all morning ! But I completed it eventually - after hunting high and low for documents, medical notes etc. They don’t make it easy.

I applied online in March, taking photos of all the required documents - it did take a long time! I ended up having to have a f2f interview on Monday of this week. The occupational therapist couldn’t understand why the powers that be thought I was borderline because I couldn't even do the car park walk! I got the decision before I’d even got home and I’m just waiting for the postman to deliver my badge. Good luck with your application.

No its not easy , and its not much easier to renew either but most government things are a bit long winded. One for, is that you don't have to keep taking photos for renewal unless your appearance changes vastly. It does take some time to come through also and may be challenged if there are any doubts to your right.

Hi Chris, you just look on the council website or go to your council one stop shop.

The form is long and you also need photos of your medication and various other things - you do need a smart phone. It took me four hours to do it and I'm really good at forms (so my partner says so that I'll do them). But I was pleasantly surprised that I got the blue badge quite quickly afterwards without any queries. It has made a surprising diffierence to my life being able to park nearer places.
