People who’ve had and recovered from COVID - how was it?

Wanted to gage peoples recovery with COVID preferably those who have had it recently and if not too much to ask age and what meds they are on?

Had it in January. I'm on methotrexate and adalimumab, I'd rather keep my age off the internet but early retired. Not very ill with it; a bad back, a low grade fever for one day and some eye disturbances. One day on the sofa watching a very poor film. All resolved in a few days, then I had to wait to test negative. I was itching to get out by the time I was released. My garden was a good deal tidier. No negative long term effects. Had many colds much worse. I know I was lucky, my sister had it in April 2020 before vaccination and was quite ill.

I'm on Day 10 of covid and still testing positive. I'm on azathioprine and hydroxychloroquine and nearing retirement.I've suffered with productive coughing and being very bunged up. I had a fever of 38.5 for a couple of days and my eyes felt like they were burning in their sockets.

I'm now generally tired, still coughing but much less frequently and still bunged up. I've had four jabs but although immunosuppressed I wasn't able to have the antivirals because one of my medications for BP interacts with them.

All in all I consider myself lucky to have not contracted it until now and to get away with it fairly lightly compared to what it could have been. My husband despite not socially distancing has remained negative throughout 🤷

At 23.59 tonight I can leave the house and go clubbing 💃🤣

Had Covid 2nd Feb. Very mild cold like symptoms, no high temperature and no persistent cough. Worst symptom was a sore throat for 3 days. Better in 5 days. Husband had it worse than me, he's an asthmatic but wasn't on the CEV list as I was.

I'm 57 on MTX & HCQ.

No. I tested positive on a LFT, didn't go for a PCR as thought that's what the guidance was at that time (not an essential worker!).

Although I was put on the CEV list at the start of the pandemic and received all the Government, Local Authority emails, texts etc. nobody contacted me about antivirals and, as I wasn't very ill at all, felt I didn't need them. Had my 4th jab (booster) last Saturday.

You should, hopefully, now have a lots of antibodies...but still take care, and stay safe. Glad all is well with you. x

Got it over Christmas. Have had no covid jabs. I take Imraldi. Felt rough for a few days with cold symptoms. No long term issues.

I take methotrexate, hydroxychloroquin and Amgevita and am 59 years old. Had covid a month ago, caught from my hubby. Quite congested like a bad head cold, a little shortness of breath and a cough but nothing major. Felt sorry for myself for 2-3 days then started antivirals and all cleared up during next 4 days. Antivirals did upset my tummy but I chose to continue with them.Now have a sinus infection (not covid related) which is bothering me more to be honest. 🤷‍♀️

Did you isolate from your husband or not, if you both had it? We both have it at the moment.

My husband tested positive and then proceeded to cough his way around the house despite me asking him to isolate 😡 … so unsurprisingly 3 days later I tested positive. Because of the antiviral drugs I had, we both recovered in the same time frame more or less.

Yes. There seemed little point in isolating when we both had it anyway 🤷‍♀️

My little grandson (14 months) kindly shared it with me in January. I felt very tired for a couple of days and put this down to looking after a toddler who had ‘tonsillitis’. I only tested because I was due to visit someone and was surprised I was positive. Grandson, son and daughter in law then all tested and were surprised to be positive too. Grandson had had a negative pcr , hence the diagnosis of tonsillitis but was positive on lft 2 days later.If I really thought about it, I could persuade myself I had a very very light cold and muggy headache (resolved with paracetamol). As others have said, I’ve had far worse colds. Little chappie was the worst of all of us, poorly for a week.

I’m 65, triple vaccinated on MTX. I’ve had no long term effects other than feeling liberated by the additional dose of antibodies I now have.

Hi I’m on my late 50tys, had 3 full vaccines, all now well over 6 months ago. Im currently on day 3 of COVID, for me just bouts of tiredness, feeling heaps better than day 1. I currently take angiveta & 2.5mg steroids..

You didn’t say why you were asking??

Hi I have Covid at present but not feeling too bad with it. I am mid sixties, on MTX and have had 4 jabs but didn't qualify for antivirals. Had a couple of 'sofa' days feeling listless with a slightly high temperature and a cough that doesn't seem to be getting any worse. On day 5 after testing positive so hopeful it will soon go away completely.

Still testing positive on day 8 but feeling OK. Bit weary but no cold symptoms- just a fuzzy head that is improving, My better half had a proper cold and tested negative for 2 days running yesterday which was day 9 for him so hopefully I will in a few days.

Did they say why you didn't qualify for antivirals even though you did for a 4th vaccine? Glad you haven't felt too ill. x

Not all people who qualify for fourth vaccine qualify for antivirals, the lists are different.

A bit late chipping in here, I had it in February, about 4 months after my 3rd vaccine so any immunity obviously long gone. I would say it was a very mild case, bit of a sore throat, headache, a bit snotty, tired. However the minute I tested negative again on day 9 almost overnight it kicked off a bad flare of my RA which has been in remission for about 4 years on methotrexate, so to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. I got my GP to prescribe a short course of steroids which knocked it back in the short term, but now waiting to see how it goes and whether things gradually improve. Anyone else experienced similar?

I dont have RA, but I felt like while down with covid, my inflamatory ailments was kept down, then after covid cleared it has been worse than before.Its actually not uncommon for me to have less autoimmune activity when the immune system "has something else to worry about".

Years ago I had a doctor tell me immune system can get over-active after or during infections.

Im on remicade. It was quite nasty, all kinds of symptoms in the beginning, mainly headache, tiredness, pain, pressure on the chest and generally feeling sick.Got slowly better after two days, after 1 week felt good enough to be up and active all day but then it got worse(altough not as bad as the first days) and I was a bit sick for another week. From there it got better but with a few setbacks. Took 5-6 weeks to really get over it.

I hadn't taken any vaccines, I also had covid in 2020 (not confirmed, but symptoms were textbook) so I hadn't prioritized it.

After this I definately will.

Had it twice. First in October which led to pneumonia! Six weeks very poorly. Second Christmas time that was not too bad 5 days illness had three jabs now. Should have fourth but where to get it?Keep well drink plenty take vitamin D 🌈
