Any simple Workouts for weight Loss?
It isn't really possible to lose weight with exercise. It can keep you fit and flexible but its the discipline that will lose you the weight.Cut sugar, starchy carbs and any seed oils.
Inflammation, pain and medication will all reduce. (very quickly)
Look up Metabolic health and Insulin resistance.
Its fascinating and game changers!
I would suggest yoga for strength, coordination, flexibility and peace of mind 🙏🏽
Do you know if a yoga discipline that does not involve weight on the wrists?I’d love to try but can’t use my wrists in any way .
Try gentle or restorative yoga
I cycle on my ebike to keep fit and now it’s winter I need to get back into swimming.... I don’t do specific workouts but should probably add something in as weight control over winter is tricky for me.
Reducing carbs and upping proteins could also help.
All the best

You will be far more successful if you combine a healthy eating regime with exercise. Reduce your intake of starchy carbohydrates and increase the amount of vegetables you eat. Try not to eat processed food and cook and prepare your meals from scratch. If you don’t know where to start a Mediterranean diet is recommended for RA and is a good starting place or try a planned programme like Weight Watchers or Second Nature. I did the latter, which helps you make permanent changes to your eating habits and lost two stone.
Regular gentle exercise like walking, swimming or cycling is good and Pilates and yoga will help your flexibility.
Good luck!
I took off the 5 and a half stone I put on after becoming unwell with RD by eating freshly prepared and cooked food.
I ate a balanced diet including food from all food groups....carbohydrates, fats, proteins and so on...
The only things I avoided were sugary foods and alcohol.
Spoon Fed, by Tim Spector is a great book which outlines why 'fast foods' and convenience foods are the culprits for weight gain.
Combining fresh food with gentle exercise such as walking or swimming is a great way to start.
Best wishes to you.
There is some good advice on exercise for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis on the NRAS website. Exercise is good for making you feel better and for general health, but not much help with weight loss. And if that's your photo, you have a lovely figure already and don't need to lose any weight!
As everyone has said there is no magic answer. You need to eat sensibly, avoiding sweet and processed foods in particular. Try to reduce portion sizes too. I find walking a good simple exercise which needs no equipment or timetable to do. You can control duration and speed to suit your health each day. Yoga is great for strength and flexibility and mind. Pilates is also a gentle physical exercise where you can modify to suit your needs. Good luck
Do you know if a yoga discipline that does not use wrist support ( I can’t use mine) but would like to try yoga
You need to make adjustments on poses to fit your health on each day. A good instructor should be able to help
HiTwo things that have really helped me have been a 20-30 minute walk before breakfast 3-4 times a week and no carbs after 6pm.
Hello
Versus Arthritis have an exercise program called Let’s Move with Leon that is especially for people with arthritis. It’s a good way to keep active so may be a good starting point combined with healthy eating.
Have a look at Dr. Michael Moseley's 'Fast 800' - lots of low carb, high protein recipes to shed excess pounds. I'm no great cook but most of the recipes are really simple, in particular:-
Easy Chicken Tagine
Spiced Bean & Spinach Soup (swap spinach for Butternut Squash)
For exercise, just walk as much as you can. No need to go for long walks, if you can't manage it, so long as you keep moving.
thanks for your suggestion. I will try to use that app
Yep, I agree with BoneyC, I have almost lost a stone (the lockdown lard) by sticking to Dr Michael Mosely's 'Fast 800' diet for three weeks, but you should probably check with your doctor/nurse before undertaking any weight loss activity. And as Oldtimer said, if the photo is you then why on earth would you want to lose weight, you seem in great shape?
I like the ' Fast 800' strategy because the results are quick, the recipes are tasty and the food is Mediterranean-ish which is good for us anyway. I was feeling sluggish and my inflammation was not as well controlled as it had been prior to the lockdowns and a slide in my eating and exercising habits. I Invested in an aerobic exercise bike (not keen on returning to a gym yet) and resolved to overhaul my diet -I believe as a consequence I'm currently feeling much less fatigued and creaky. I think the exercise is a big help and feel lucky to be able to do it. I'm using the exercise bike to get my heart rate up at least twice a week. Very glad I've got it for the looming winter months. Take care and good luck with your goals
Hi @jeffersonsam99
I've got psoriatic arthritis and enjoy walking and swimming when I'm well- but I'm trying to lose half a stone before Xmas. I could do with shedding a stone but I'm going for small steps!
Lately I've cut out processed meals and I am (trying) to cut snacks. Crisps are my downfall, I'm not too bad with chocolate.
I've cut my bread down and I've cut out a lot of sugar. I don't put it on my cereal anymore which was a hard habit to break.
I find Xmas challenging food-wise with all the choc biscuits, mince pies etc so I'm cutting down a wee bit now so I can enjoy them in moderation. Been eating satsumas and pears in the evening lately (a time when I'm sorely tempted to snack)
I've increased: haddock, tuna, prawns, eggs, chicken and broccoli. A couple of nights a week i have homemade soup for my evening meal. I make a big pot and freeze some small tubs.
(I hardly drink as it doesn't agree with me)
I cannot buy Pringles as I would eat the lot 😃
Versus arthritis - I see someone has already mentioned these exercises. I tried the online ones with Leon from Versus Arthritis on YouTube.
Keep us posted 🍀
