Hi, Was wondering if anyone could help me please. So basically I think i`ve done something to my knuckle but no idea what. One idea I do have is that earlier this year I dislocated my thumb and whilst all it was being concentrated on the thumb, I was also getting pain on the side of the finger, the round orange circle in the photos below. The pain wasn`t that painful just a few strong throbs now and again and that was it. However over the last few months that area has seemed to of intensified, I still get pain on the side of the finger, the area where the white arrow is pointing and my knuckle and then it`s all around that area and then some. I get pain but it`s not all the time I would say about 70% of the time, I get it when moving (Not always), gripping, pressure and when relaxed, It`s like a dull ache and it can range from strong to mild, there is also throbbing. Even when I hold my phone I get pain sometimes. The knuckle looks swollen and it looks like some sort of bone is misplaced or something although you can`t really tell with the naked eye. When I run my finger along the side of the finger it feels different to the other basically. The pain was so much the other that I nearly phoned the hospital up and said to them `I`m in pain here, I need help` At the moment I`m waiting for my next physio appointment which is due in November. I don`t wanna be bugging them because at the moment this injury I have doesn`t seem to be healing and it just seems to be one problem after the other. I`ll attach photos below.

Knuckle problem
So the arrow pointing to the padding or metacarpohalangeal bone I think it is?
Orange circle circulating the side of the finger where its been hurting for a while and where the bone I believe is misplaced.
Have you been diagnosed with RA?I think if you had injured that joint it would be much more swollen….until you can get some medical advice….you could try an ice pack to numb the pain.
I can’t see the photos but I agree with AC in that you should get medical advice if an injury hasn’t healed and you could get them to look at your finger at the same time.
Hi. It’s possible you have a sublaxed joint. Looks like mine at the moment -I am waiting for a re replacement on that one and the middle finger. First had it done in early 2000s. Try buying some compressed gloves ((Amazon) it does help with the pain and swelling. Obviously your rheumatologist will need to properly diagnose it.
I had a feeling it could be sublaxed or dislocated because the bruising is the same as when I did my thumb when it did the same :(. I just don`t know when I could`ve possibly done it, The only time was recently when someone accidentally stood on the hand. What do you mean replacement?
My middle finger on my right hand is now twice the size it was, I used to have very slim fingers now all fingers are swollen to a certain degree, but that middle finger is terrible now. Hugs.xxxx
