Covid can f*** off.

Today I learned that my housemate (my best friends brother) is positive for covid and that my mother and father are also possibly positive for covid. My father has been exposed at work by several people and so that means he’s exposed my mother to it as well. She’s been sick and getting worse and I only found out about it today on my break at work. Me and my best friend are getting tested tomorrow to see if we have it as well as she’s showing symptoms and I live in the same room as her so I most likely am carrying it. Me and her and her parents are all vaccinated. Her brother is not. My mother isn’t either and neither is my dad as he’s always at work and doesn’t have time to go to the doctor for anything. This annoys me any given day but especially so right now. My mom is severely immune compromised and will not survive if she has covid. I was set to go visit them on the 28th which if we all test positive I’ll go ahead and still visit but if only one of us does I’ll have to postpone for a while. If my mom tests positive I’ll go wether or not I am positive too because it’ll probably be our goodbyes and I’ll be damned if I miss that. My dad will also need support if she has covid and doesn’t survive.

This whole situation has me both pissed and sad beyond belief. I could barely keep myself from crying after my break today. Why can’t people just grow up and wear their damn masks?! “My Body my choice.” Well fuck your body right now! You’re putting other people’s lives at risk! It’s a pandemic! You’re killing people because you want to be selfish! Its not going to kill you to wear a mask for an hour or two a day in the store. If an asthmatic who has fucked up lungs and tons of other medical issues can wear a mask for 8+ hours at a fast food job you can wear it to leisurely walk through the fucking store!!

I’m sorry for all my cussing guys! I’m just so mad that this is happening and I can’t take the childish behavior anymore. It’s not okay and it’s not fair on those of us who wear our masks and get vaccinated to help protect people who won’t offer the same courtesy, people who just simply don’t give a crap about anyone else.

You are right to be angry. I hate people’s selfishness and have no one currently in danger.

However please don’t think the worst for your mother. Even people who are severely immune-compromised survive covid. Her chances may be lower than other people but she still has a pretty good chance. These days a lot more is known about treatment and death rate has fallen drmatically. Fingers crossed for you.

Thing is she won’t even want to try to fight it. She sees it as a death sentence herself if she goes to the hospital when she gets bad enough and she tests positive she’ll probably sign herself a dnr. She has said repeatedly over the last few years she doesn’t want to be hooked up to life support machines and even more so after learning about covid. I’d like to force her to fight but it’s out of my hands if she doesn’t want to.

Blimey darling i feel so much for you. When i took ill in June the paramedics ask my hubby if he wanted a dnr and he said qite strongly NO. I thank the lord he did say that as i am alive to tell the tale. Perhaps if your mum does have to go into hospital she will have a change of heart. Hugs. xxx

I can fully understand by your anger. I feel very much the same - I hate the selfishness of people who just don't seem to accept or want to accept that they are putting others at risk. And I'd better stop there before I say something I shouldn't.

I hope you and your family come through this ok.

Stay strong xx

Preach it sister!

I am sorry this is happening to you and all your loved ones. It's natural to see all the worst-case scenarios ,but it's not a given that it'll all go badly.

I've noted that most people's level of altruism seems to be at an all-time low. I have close family that doesn't even think of taking a rapid flow test before we meet up, or before seeing an elderly parent, even though they have the tests laying around.

It seems as though only those living with a CEV person care about our plight. The others say they care, but don't look out for even one other person after themselves. Actions speak louder, now more than ever!

Just had to go shopping first time for along time barely anyone wearing a mask 🥺

Me too, I've no time for people who will not wear a mask or keep their distance from others. No excuses. Your mum may well be ok. Best wishes to you all.

I'm sorry to hear this Ccrowlu and really understand your anger. We are always so shocked when we go out as to the amount of people who aren't wearing masks, it makes no sense at all - they belong to the We Are Immune Brigade. I hope all will be well with you all, especially your parents and your friend's brother, as they are not vaccinated, I hope they find the strength to fight this. All the best. xx

It made me very angry to see all those unmasked MPs crowded together in Parliament yesterday. I tested positive for COVID on Sunday, having been pinged by the app as I’d been in contact with a positive case. No symptoms yet. No idea where I got it from, been very careful, always wear a mask indoors and have been double vaccinated since April. Other people, as you say, have abandoned masks and presumably are spreading it everywhere.😡

Can I also issue a warning about the lateral flow tests freely available in the U.K? I have taken these regularly since April for a volunteer role and took one just before and after my positive pcr test. All negative. Just saying.

I’m in the us so idk about the tests that are available in the uk. I know here were pretty much out of rapid tests and have to wait a few days for results in most places. Luckily we have enough in the town I currently live in but not where my parents live

I only wish that everyone would get vaccinated to save not only their own lives but the lives of others. Vaccinations are required to eliminate this virus. I get so cross when people make excuses for not getting jabbed. I’ve heard it all….”I’m fit and healthy”, “I eat well and don’t need a jab” , “I’m immune and nothing touches me”, “ If I get jabbed I’ll die of Covid”, etc., etc,.

There should be no excuses. If someone doesn’t care about their own life at least consider the lives of others and wear a mask too, at least to show you care and protect us all.

My thoughts are with you Ccrowlu and I wish you all the best. T57 x

Hey Ccrowlu. You swear all you fucking like! I totally agree with you. I have RA. I’ve obviously had both jabs. Thankfully i live alone. My lovely mother died 4 yrs ago. The bastard c word took her. But i often think, if she was still here. This bloody virus would have got her. She was 82 & had asthma & COPD. So 2 serious lung conditions. We were very close. It would have broken me if i hadn’t been able to say my goodbyes to her. When i actually did go & see her in the hospital. I felt sick. I of course was in floods of tears. We were so close. When i left i felt dizzy. I felt drunk. My brother helped me so much.

This is an awful time. I get so angry when these stupid, arrogant bastards think they know more than well qualified scientists.

I was wearing my mask in the street the other day, when some stupid moron shouted at me to take my mask off. I wanted to punch him.

Anyway.

Good luck with everything. I hope your mother can fight this evil disease. In the meantime. You can come on here & swear all you want! X

I’m immune compromised among many other health issues. I don’t believe in “forced anything”. I make my own decisions based on the best information. Wear a mask. Don’t wear one. Nothing is going to prevent a virus. No “cure” for the common cold, flu or Covid. We are a country of choices. I don’t ever want to loose that right. ❤️
