Adult stills disease and covid virus.

Please i need help is it dangerous for someone with stills disease to get covid-19 even while taking actemra I'm so worried for my sister she stayed with my other sister who got infected . Is it serious please i need to know😭😭😭

Has your sister actually tested positive for Covid-19? Just staying with someone doesn’t automatically mean she will catch it.

Anyway, it is not necessarily dangerous for her just because of Stills disease and her drugs. Actemra (Tocilizumab) is actually one of the drugs used ro treat covid!

Risk factors for getting very serious Covid are still older people, especially above 80, seriously overweight people and those with heart and lung diseases.

Try not to worry unless she gets very sick.

Yes i read that actemra is also treatment for covid. Thank you i will try not to worry. She seem fine

Has she been vaccinated? That would help to reduce her risks. Although she may be slightly more likely to have a reduced response to an infection, treatments have improved considerably since the start of the pandemic. She needs to be aware of possibility that she might catch Covid but not worry too much about getting it.

It's very easy these days to catch the alarm that many news outlets put in their headlines to catch people's attention, but try and find sources of information that are less hysterical. I use Zoe which has been monitoring Covid since the start ( covid.joinzoe.com) which gives a more balanced view.

Not yet vaccinated. I didnt know if the vaccine would harm her or not. Her doctor said its ok to take it

Hi Hope7777 - try not to worry and get anxious - as mentioned if someone does test positive and she was in contact with them doesn't mean a) they are positive too and b) it's hospitalisation.

Do the test first and see what it comes back with, and do speak with a health professional - don’t panic or stress yourself. Calm, slow and steady is always the best tonic 🙏 - take care and keep us posted - Hessie ☺️
