Iv been taken off this injection due to having mouth ulcers?

Oh, I've been on this drug for about 4 years now and it has been a wonder drug for me. I did have to reduce the dose as I am petite and the standard weekly dose was too high so I now inject every 12 days. The only known side effect I had when I was on the weekly dose was the return of severe migraines which disappeared on reducing the frequency of taking the drug. That's really interesting Beth, thanks for sharing. I currently take weekly abatacept and for 2 months have been plagued with clusters of really painful mouth ulcers. When I spoke to rheumy helpline the nurse said abatacept doesn't cause mouth ulcers!!!!!! So the GP has recommended taking a break of 2 weeks and given me a supply of steroid mouthwash, currently on the 3rd batch of mouthwash. Longing to be able to eat fruit and proper food without tears in my eyes😥. This for me is where only telephone appointments are inadequate, no chance to properly talk about symptoms and treatment. Hope your mouth heals soon.xx

I have experienced a burning tongue, wondered has anyone else had this ?

Yes ! a few days after injection day ! I didn't think of it being the abatacept at first , my grandson kept telling his Mum he had a 'spicy tongue ' around the same time so didnt put the two together. his went but mine carried on !

Hope you find one that suits you , blooming side effects hey ! It seems to suit me apart from the tingly tongue !
