Constipation
6 every day could well.....ask your pharmacist what he recommends.
I wouldn’t think so but if it is cocodamol it may well do! I have had to take high doses of paracetamol in the past but not had a problem, although I do drink extra fluids at the same time. If it becomes an ongoing (or should I say not going!) problem you could ring your pharmacist for advice or contact your GP.
Yes painkillers do make me constipated .
Yes I think 6 could cause constipation. Definitely even a couple of codeine a day would!
Paracetamol on its own is not usually associated with causing constipation, even taken multiple times a day. The side effect profile is really good, which is partly why it’s such a commonly used and popular drug. That said, we’re all different, and sometimes we can have odd reactions to things where others don’t. I’m also assuming when you say 6, you don’t my mean all in one go: if you took them all in one go, you need to see a doctor today, without fail. Even minor overdoses of paracetamol can cause acute and serious liver injury.
Paracetamol won’t cause constipation, but taking 6 of them is quite a bit more than the recommended 2. If you take a compound with codeine and paracetamol then the codeine could cause constipation, but you’d probably get used to it after a bit and not have too much of a problem. The amount of codeine phosphate in tablets containing paracetamol isn’t much, normally 8mg.
