Morning all. Im fairly new to RD and for past 3 weeks had horrific pain in right hand and lower wrist by joint. Looks as though my hand is being sucked in only way i can describe it. Unable to bend my fingers into fist but can fully extend them. Lump on side of wrist but only on little finger side. Pain is inbelievable dr not interested . On metho and hydroxy. Naproxen and cocodomol not even hitting pain. Else where pretty good. Anyone have any ideas plz

Hello Ninnin67, This sounds horrible, and really bad that your dr not interested!
When my RA is flaring or not well controlled it all shows up in my hand/wrist thumbs, especially my right hand as I'm right handed. So perhaps this is the case for you and you need a meds review.
One thing I definitely reccomend is getting a referral to hand (physio)therapy. I didn't see the point before I went but omg it was incredibly helpful.
Ouch, sounds painful 😣 This is one for your rheumatology team. Give them a ring - it may be that your meds need reviewing or that a steroid injection is needed.
Also, I recommend keeping a photo diary of how your hand looks and how it changes day-to-day. Good luck x
