Methotrexate headache
I'm sorry to hear that you've been experiencing headaches with MTX. One thing that helped me was staying hydrated. I drank a lot of water the day before a dose, the day of, and the day after. Also, as time went on and I became accustomed to MTX, I seldom experienced headaches or other side effects. But, if the headaches are persistent, you might wish to check in with your doctor. Also, have you been prescribed folic acid?
I just read the following advice on Everyday health:
Headaches, feeling tired or drowsy – rest and drink plenty of water. Do not take non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen. You can try a painkiller such as paracetamol.
I hope you feel better soon!
Agree with Monique about hydration. I do the same. Hope it helps you.
I have problems with headaches. Had injection last night and it woke me early hours this morning. I find fresh air helps. If I go for a walk as soon as i get up, just 20-30 mins it will often shift it. I also sleep with Windows wide open even though bedroom is like a fridge some days. I will try increasing my fluid intake also.
Hi cba84, I never had headaches with MTX so I can't really help except perhaps first follow the advice about hydration. If the headaches persist though I think you should mention them to your doctor. Good luck with the MTX. It worked well for me.
Make sure you keep yourself very well hydrated.
You need to keep yourself very well hydrated at all times.
