Hello,

I’m on Elelzi weekly and hydrochloric Quinn for Rheumatoid arthritis and Discoid Lupus.

Are all vaccination safe and do I need to stop my biological injection before the vaccination?

Thank you

There is lots of information on the NRAS website but your rheumy can advise you on what you should do if you are unsure. People are being given varying replies. There have also been lots of posts about this if you scroll back you will find them😊

Yea, there is no single right answer since we are different in our responses to vaccines, and our need to maintain our drugs to stop flares.

But the vaccines are all said to be safe for us.

This is the most recent assessment I could find, which basically says there is not enough date to be sure. So apart from the timing of Rituximab there are no generally agreed guidelines. Since I am not at risk of flaring and in stable remission my rheumy recommended I stop MTX for a week, as suggested by this research, after each vaccine. You, and your rheumy, might be different.

I've been strongly advised to get the vaccine and that it is safe. I've also been told to stop methotrexate and imraldi injections for two weeks after I receive vaccine. Other people have been told to continue their medication so it's really best to get advise from your team.

I am due to have my vaccination on Saturday 👍🏻 ....
