Hi. This is my first post. I started MTX in November 2020 for UCTD. My dose is only 10mg per week. I started on 5mg. I'm on a lot of other meds and very sensitive to medication. The first dose put me in the bed! It made my pain worse and I actually had pain I hadn't experienced before. I had lethargy, fatigue, belching, mouth sores and mood changes. I called my doctor and she increased one of my other meds to help with the pain. I have had a terrible time with these symptoms. Anyone else experience this? I absolutely dread MTX day!
My question is, has anyone had severe depression with MTX? I mean SEVERE. I wanted to take it for at least 3 months to see if there was going to be a benefit. So far, no benefit at all. I can't take this depression. Or pain and lethargy, for that matter! I go back to the Dr February 4th. I hope I make it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank!
Beth

I do very, very occasionally get a black wave after I inject. Which is very black, but I now know it’s due to the drug and keep telling myself that and wait for it to go (which it does quite quickly).
But if you are having severe depression then it sounds like this isn’t the drug for you. Perhaps you should speak to your medical team about not taking it again until you see them?
Hi, sorry to hear this but it did exactly the same to me as well. Once I was taken off this onto my present meds I was fine again. Go speak to the Dr asap, good luck!
Yes, though for me the depression builds up over time. I just stopped Methotrexate again, due to the side effects. My mood, my mental health immediately started to improve. I prefer pain to that darkness. Speak to your consultant
If this depression is new to you and lifts, as if magically, on ceasing the MTX it's time to talk to your rheumy team. I believe that's a side effect too far. Nobody needs to feel that bleak
